It’s very rare for ME to find Liberals out there that are vehemently against Americanophobia. Happy Leftie is one of them, and just very recently, I’ve met another person online who feels the same way we do. If you haven’t read Happy Leftie’s post yet, please go and read it now!
I find Liberal Patriots like I find rainbows in the sky. They are rare and beautiful to see.
The below is a guest post by JM from DailyCandor.com whom I’ve just recently had the pleasure to meet.
All of his points are spot on in sync with my own.
ON THE FAR LEFT AND FAR RIGHT
* I am steadfastly left-of-center, and I’ve been saying for years that the far-left and far-right resemble each other more than they do their respective centers, because they are driven more by ideological purity rather than a practical assessment of reality.
ON POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
I also think political correctness seems to be practiced more by the Right these days (having to pretend you’re for God, Godly, Christian, loving Jesus, praising Jesus, fearing Jesus, saying Christmas and not Holidays, talking about our “Judeo-Christian heritage”, etc in order to rise to even a tiny city council position), so while I’m against it too, I would put that in your blue/liberal column.
ON AMERICANOPHOBIA
* I have lived overseas; 2 years in Poland, 2 years in the Netherlands, and 3 months in Israel (even though I’m not Jewish, Polish or Dutch by extraction).
* Idiotic Anti-Americanism annoys the living shit out of me, mostly because it relies on tired stereotypes that media establishments play to that are often wrong (your point about Europeans thinking Jews being right-wing is a perfect example), and because it’s a thinly-veiled attempt to divert attention from people’s insecurities and embarrassment about their own countries. I’ve consistently seen a high correlation between those non-Americans who obsess about America’s faults, and….interest in getting a US residency visa, questions about green card lotteries, etc.
* I’m thrilled that there’s another American who has actually lived overseas, who is politically progressive but …still gets annoyed at the patent falseness driving most anti-American claims about this country. For all of its annoying faults and problems (and there are, of course, many) in this country, at least the US and its citizens are forced to confront them and deal with them, instead of pretending they don’t exist and choosing to attack a country abroad as the source of the world’s ills. I’ve come to see Americanophobes as delusional and hypocritical as the “magical thinking” religious nutjobs (whom I also can’t stand).
ON THE AMERICAN FAR LEFT
* I loathe the Far Left’s fawning (and completely wrong) portrayal of Europe as some sort of Utopia, mostly because they’ve never lived there long enough to see the ugliness that Europeans desperately try to hide from the world. I have to chuckle when Americans (and Europeans!) talk about how right-wing America is compared to Europe. All I have to say to that is “with respect to *what*?” When it comes to immigration and the advancement of non-white people in all sectors of society, Europe is far more to the right than the U.S.
* You’re one of the few Left people to be as annoyed at Michael Moore and Al Gore as I’ve been. I firmly believe that the facts are condemning enough; you don’t have to resort to hyperbole, irrelevant pieces of information, or messianic grandstanding to make a valid point.
Sorry for the bullet points, but I wanted to capture everything and not write a bunch of long paragraphs. I like bullet points.
Keep up the good fight! You have a friend in cyberspace. –JM from DailyCandor
“The fundamental role of anti-Americanism in Europe in general, and particularly among those on the Left, is to absolve themselves of their own moral failings and intellectual errors by heaping them onto the monster scapegoat, the United States of America. The U.S. is charged with all the evils, real or imagined, that afflict humanity, from the falling price of beef in France to AIDS in Africa and global warming everywhere. The result is a widespread refusal to accept responsibility for one’s own actions.” — Jean-Francois Revel
If you have read any of Jean-Francois Revel’s books or related literature, he is not trying to paint an unrealistic picture of the United States implying that we have done no wrong. As both Jean and Andrei Markovits said here, it’s the hyperbole, the hypocrisy, the false rumors, the assumptions, the mob mentality, the blatant ignorance, the inane labeling, and all the exagerrated truths Americanophobes believe in that they are standing up against.
“He was bum-rushed by 200 people,” said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. “They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too…I literally had to fight people off my back.”
The unidentified victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m., police said.
The cause of death was pending.
A 28-year-old pregnant woman was knocked to the floor during the mad rush. She was hospitalized for observation, police said.
Three other shoppers suffered minor injuries, cops said.
Before police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk’s life.
“They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. “People were still coming through.”
Only a few stopped.
“They’re savages,” said shopper Kimberly Cribbs, 27. “It’s sad. It’s terrible.”
If you cannot afford to buy someone a gift during stressful economic times, what ever happened to giving someone a card?
Start your shopping in October, perhaps?
What a disgrace. The extent people will go to just to make or save a buck. Wanna bet Wal-Mart takes no responsibility?
A friend of mine who’s a military wife who had her husband in Iraq was trying to get a job there, and they wouldn’t let her take the day off to pick up her husband from the airport coming home from Iraq (after a year or so) on this particular day. So, she couldn’t get the job.
That company is messed up! They screw their customers and their workers. And they claim to be pro-troops. NO. They place money ahead of human lives as we noticed today.
And to you Wal-Mart shoppers that stepped on that poor guy and let him lay there dying? SHAME ON YOU!
If I have heard this once, I’ve heard it 4585003698 times, “God forbid we should say anything negative about your Messiah”.
My Messiah? Yeeesh. I don’t even give my hubby that much credit!
I don’t really care where this little “Messiah sound-bite” came from, but does anyone else agree that the word “Messiah” being connected to Obama has been spun to its death, overused, and very irrational as at least the liberals that I associate with or read on the internet never use it nor do most liberals have any kind of perverted obsession with Obama and have any more higher expectations of him as the Right had for Bush. I honestly don’t understand the “logic” of the Right to continue to spin and twist that word around. Never mind the uber-craze and the hype over Palin. If it’s a woman and from the Right, it’s okay to have a perverted obsession. But if the candidate is on the Left, we’re not allowed to have hope, says the Right.
YOU DAMNED DRAMA QUEENS!
I am sure that everyone reading this that voted for Obama is sick and tired of hearing the same overused talking points from the far “righteous” Right, no?
They are really, really angry. Here are some excerpts from Sean Anna:
Well, Obama won. Driven insane by fears of an economic apocalypse, the American people chose to elect as POTUS a far-left loon whose only “achievement” is being Black, rather than a hero whose patriotism is above reproach. DISGUSTED doesn’t begin to describe how I feel. Imagining the Messiah’s (sic) assasination was the only way I could get through the day Wednesday. And I do hope he gets (sic) assasinated. On live tv. Like Oswald. Then I’ll know God is smiling on America. Seriously.
So, lemme guess… McCain is a hero like Bush? Isn’t funny how they excuse Bush? I am still waiting for his military records… Hmmm….. See, in Sean Anna’s world, God doesn’t love all of his people. Just a select few. You know… the Radical Republican Christian Fundamentalists. That’s it. Anybody else is going to hell like me. Well, at least Hell will contain the majority of us. We’ll make the best out of it.
If anyone remembers when Hillary Clinton was on the campaign trail, you’ll also remember the Radical Right predicting that the left would vote for Hillary JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS A WOMAN. Does anyone remember that? Obama won. And now they say 66,882,230 Libs voted for Obama JUST BECAUSE HE WAS BLACK. Hmmm…. Well, does this mean that 58,343,671 Rednecked Americans voted for McPalin just because Palin’s a female or because they were voting *AGAINST* black skin-color?
Anyway Sean Anna’s temper tantrum probably explains all of this. People like her, while in the minority, are OUT THERE.
Mind you, this is coming from a self-proclaimed Christian who is staunchly pro-life. After having questioned her about her statements (which are by far the most radical I’ve seen yet in the blogosphere), she responded with more venom:
And VM, I like you but please stop with the phoney outrage. Your side of the political aisle dissed and demonized Bush and everyone connected with him. Progressives rejoiced when people like Tony Snow became ill with deadly diseases.
But naturally, if you disagree with the far Right, you are automatically going to get the same canned responses and talking points from them no matter how far or not far to the Left you are. They are like parrots. They don’t think about the situation or whom they are talking to because they are too lazy, angry, and pea-brained to respond with anything but a one-size-fits-all statement that reduces ALL Obama supporters to the farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Left having some kind of perverted obsession with a president-elect.
This is Sean Anna’s Happy Thanksgiving Day message, by the way:
Happy Thanksgiving to my blogging buddies and the 48% of Americans who voted for McCain! The rest of you can go to hell, unless you’re related to me by blood, law, or love.
I’m a liberal atheist. Aren’t I going to hell, anyway?
Seriously. What can you expect from one that only listens to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Micheal Medved, and Ann Coulter and calls these talking-heads “fair and balanced” or actually “newsworthy”. One who refuses to listen to alternative views. One who refuses to learn that there are two sides to every story. One who refuses to try and understand why her party lost to the Democrats and why her Republicans lost to the Democrats even back in 2006! Did that have to do with skin-color then too?
THERE IS A VERY GOOD REASON THE DEMS ARE TAKING OVER!
For the record, I listen to Republican talk radio to the tune of Mike Gallagher, Bill O’Reilly, Michael Medved, and Jim Bohannan at night if I happen to be awake at the time. I was really surprised to hear the other night that Michael Medved accepted, for the first time, that Obama is our president-elect and to at least give him a try. He wishes Obama the best, he said. He showed Obama some respect for the very first time.
Anyway… Sean Anna continues,
Progressives called Bush a terrorist, war criminal, and another Hitler. So please, don’t pretend like you’re shocked and/or offended by my hardcore language against your messiah. I don’t see any reason why I should give Barak Osama* any more respect than you progressives gave to Bush.
Hmmm…. So, how do the actions of the lunatic fringe reflect on me, exactly? See, we liberals expect the neocons to respect any and all presidents. Why? Because YOU people on the Far Right (your words – not mine) were the ones that went on and on and on ad nauseam saying that “dissent was un-American”. “We must all respect our president unconditionally.” These are the words of the far Right and from Sean Anna herself. Not mine. For eight years, I kept hearing that any kind of dissent even the most innocuous was unpatriotic, un-American, treasonous, and that I should STFU because our men fought for the right for me to dissent bla bla bla….. Now, the radicals have conveniently changed the definition of dissent to mean “jealousy and fear of Sarah Palin”. Doncha love how they continue to re-write the Webster Dictionary when American politics change? *wink* *wink*
Is it not interesting that now the Far Righteous Right have done a complete 180?
All their values and rhetoric just went right out the window – the baby and the water included. Like I said before on my blog, it’s only OK if you guys, do it, right?
See, the Far Righteous Right places standards for the rest of the world to live by – yes, even beyond our borders. However, they compose a different and more convenient list of standards for themselves to live by under the name of God-fearing Christianity & holier-than-thou-self-righteousness-finger-wagging-wildly-rhetoric. Maybe they are THAT close to God that they ARE God? Who knows? They just do whatever they want, and say whatever they want not the least bit concerned the elitist self-serving hypocritical fools they are making out of themselves and how they continue to tarnish America’s reputation. Furthermore, they are the poster children of being able to dish it out, but not take it back. They are weak, cowardly, always making excuses for themselves, and act like spoiled baby brats when life doesn’t go their way unlike the REAL old-fashioned classy Conservatives.
So, they (the radicals) will stoop to the most childish blows in an attempt to silence dissent. If you are a hardcore reader of blogs, you’ll notice that right-wing blogs have very little opposition in their comment section. Am I the only one who notices this? However, in left-wing blogs, I find other conservatives responding in opposition. It’s just a little thing I noticed over the last few months that I find quite telling. In those conservative blogs that I respond to with my dissent, I am 99% of the time, the only dissenter there. Just interesting, is all. If anyone has any heads up as to why, I’d be interested.
But I am sure some dingbat radical conservative will come here and say that Obama is trying to silence dissent too. Here’s a clue: Obama isn’t even FOR the “Fairness Doctrine”!!!! And even if he was, how the hell do counter-opinions equate to “silencing dissent”? See people, this is why the radicals call even “Fox News” part of the “Liberal Media”. It’s part of the Liberal media only because counter opinions like Alan Colmes is allowed. Anything is “Liberal” if both sides of a story can be taught. That’s pretty damn depressing if you ask me.
The Red Redneck Radicals hate “the other America” and will stop at nothing to destroy it. They are the minority now, and simply cannot handle it. Their poor children are probably taking the brunt of it, and more cases to the Child Protective Services will be reported if Obama doesn’t get assassinated soon enough. Little do they realize that it is the extremist attitudes of the likes of Sean Anna up above is what actually got Obama elected. She cries that Obama is a “far left loon terrorist” but doesn’t see herself – on the far extreme Right. She didn’t see that with Palin either.
This just reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
“We don’t see things as THEY are, we see them as WE are.” – Anais Nin
Reclaiming Conservatism: How a Great American Political Movement Got Lost–And How It Can Find Its Way Back by Mickey Edwards
From Publishers Weekly
This book is a cri de coeur by former Republican congressman Edwards, a veteran conservative founding trustee of the Heritage Foundation who once ranked as the national chairman of the American Conservative Union. Edwards believes that conservatism has abandoned the ideas of limited government that once inspired it. This has been, he argues, the paradoxical price of conservative electoral success, and the process of winning and retaining this power has brought its own temptations. Taking Washington required coalition forming with neoconservatives, the religious right and former supporters of George Wallace who all owed little to the Goldwater-style conservatism in which the thing being ‘conserved’ was the liberal revolution embodied in the Constitution. According to Edwards, these other views have intensified as the Bush administration presides over an evolving security state, and the movement Edwards once held sacrosanct is now unrecognizable.
Right-wing radicals don’t have the balls to stand up and admit that Bush turned this country over on to its belly as they have forgotten what Conservatism is. Traditional conservatives have been railing against Bush for the longest time. I listen to Republican talk radio. I know.
Ever wonder how Bush got to the lowest recorded approval rating (23%) in history?
You can listen to Mickey Edwards speak more about his book here in audio format.
Some notable comments about Bush’s presidency by traditional conservatives here.
I can’t help thinking this is an exact replay of what John Winston Howard did to the conservative party in Australia. He dragged it so far away from the middle that the normal run of the mill voter just got disgusted and voted with their feet. Thank you GW for smashing the Republican Party to pieces. I only hope what rises in its place can serve the people of the U.S. the way decent republican leaders have done all the while until you loped onto the political scene.
Why Os- Obama REALLY got elected is that much of America learned that when you put some guy in the white house who blows smoke up the entire countries backside about how he’s a conservative and stands for conservative values – blah blah blah – who THEN hands us the most dangerous liberal policies we’ve seen in YEARS; he’s nearly ruined us economically, he’s started a war with a dangerous part of the world and allowed the most idiotic war policies – the list gets too long…
… Americans are thinking that the most liberal nitwit in govt. who probably isn’t even QUALIFIED to BE the president may ACTUALLY give us 4 to 8 years of real CONSERVATIVE AND COMMON SENSE policy !!!
Our system of govt. is so incredibly effed up and corrupt right now what other choice do we HAVE ?
“We the people” have been scoffed at and insulted by our corrupt judicial branch which will continue to be allowed to do the job of the legislative branch. Because “we the sheeple” and the other two branches of govt. allow it.
So this is where we’re at. We expect our elected politicians to do the exact opposite of what they tell us. They’ve become misbehaved teenagers. When their mouth is moving they’re lying.
There is opportunity here Robert, the truth is Republicans stopped acting like conservatives and we were punished for it last night. If the Republican minority can get back to conservative basics, we can retake congress in 2010 and be on our way to victory in 2012. This is a time for rebuilding and action, not pessimism. Liberals allow pessimism into their movement, it has no place in Reagan conservatism.
It has been interesting to watch the conservatives, though, because I really, really DID think it was the Left that was the party of whining and pessimism. Now, I see that the Republicans are just as human – in other words – cry babies when things don’t go their way.
For the past eight years Republicans in Washington have disappointed those of us in the grassroots, they have expanded government and increased spending by irresponsible amounts, and now are paying the price for it. Last nights defeat was retribution, with power comes responsibility and those in Washington did not exercise their power well. So the American people took a gamble on something new and tossed out many in our party.
You know, people… there is A REASON why the Democrats took over congress back in 2006. Have you ever evaluated your own party and wondered why?
I never ever thought I would agree with a conservative republican, but after reading this book, I am in full agreement with Mickey Edwards. Sean Hannity and the other trash on talk radio have perverted the word ‘patriot’ but Edwards has brought its true meaning back to us. I see little chance in the near future of correcting the damage wrought on this USA by the W administration, Newt Gingrich, and the neocons; but, if we follow Mickey’s advice, we will eventually get the country we and the world needs.
John, another reviewer, reminds us that Republicans are supposed to be the party responsible for protecting our freedoms but seem to nowadays be the party that is stripping them away.
From JMK as a response to the far Right blaming Obama’s win on “libtards”:
Here’s the thing, it really WASN’T the far-Left “libtards” who voted Obama in!
In fact, our electorate remains about 33% self-proclaimed Conservatives, about 17% self-proclaimed Liberal and appx 50% “Moderate,” or unaffliated.
That merely shows that a large majority of Americans have little interest in or affinity for the political system.
That’s why our very Liberal MSM is such a help to Democrats!
But this time around, it wasn’t even THAT.
Bottomline, Bush has NOT governed as a Conservative his second term. In fact, he’s cooperated about as well with the Pelosi-Reid Congress as Bill Clinton had with the Gingrich Congress.
Unfortunately, (1) Clinton’s cooperation and capitulation to Gingrich resulted in the best economic period since the 1950s, most of it based on the FIRST federal budget cuts since prior to WW II….while (2) Bush’s cooperation with Pelosi-Reid coincided with one of the greatest economic disasters of our time, a disaster born of Democratic over-regulation (the turbo-charged CRA forcing banks to deliver tons of high-risk, subprime loans) and banking industry greed – tons of short-term cash was made off all the fees from those subprime (government-backed) mortgages!
Regardless, the President in office (BUSH) took credit, or in this case BLAME for that implosion.
THAT helped Obama a LOT.
McCain also helped Obama a LOT by running an incompetent campaign.
McCain was, to be kind, an embarrassment, from his huckster, “Well, my friends….” vaudevillian delivery, to his phoney appeal to Conservatives over the bailout – he didn’t even stand up for the Congressional Conservatives who merely wanted those monies earmarked for lending ALONE!
McCain’s ill-conceived bailout photo-op shit the bed and basically signalled that his campaign was not really serious about governance, let alone winning the election.
In short, blame Bush’s cooperating with Pelosi-Reid, blame McCain’s ineptitude, blame Moderate Republicans for consistently selling out Conservatism, BUT don’t blame the Liberals!
First off, there aren’t near enough of them to win anything and secondly, I can’t balme the vast majority of Moderates for voting Obama over McCain.
McCain’s campaign was a sad, pathetic joke….and a disgrace to Conservatives everywhere.
And lastly Ann Shaftel, another reviewer of Reclaiming Conservatism says,
America was founded on principles then considered liberal/revolutionary–governments bound by duty to the people, not the other way around, limited by the phrase “Congress shall make no law..,” a system of checks and balances to ensure that no one branch of government shall gain too much power over the others, strict separation of church and state, no interference in our private lives, the over-riding obligation of Due Process in all criminal proceedings. The Conservative movement of the 1960s was meant to “conserve” these Constitutional principles. I am a proud “liberal,” a member of the “loyal opposition” from the perspective of Conservatives like Mickey Edwards. RECLAIMING CONSERVATISM helped me to understand the true meaning and value of pre-Gingrich Conservatism. We stand for many of the same principles. This is not a book about governmental programs, what the government ought or ought not to do for its citizens. It is about protecting and returning to those principles on which our government was founded. Bravo!
This is true. If you look at traditional conservatism and traditional liberalism, there’s not too big of a difference.
Traditional conservatism is at least something that I can tolerate – not love – not believe in 100% – but tolerate. The last eight years of Bush wasn’t conservative or liberal. It was nonsense. It wasn’t America. And it is those whom are unconditionally faithful and blindly patriotic to Bush that I call the neocons, the radicals, the far right-wingnuts. These adjectives, however, do not describe those followers of TRUE Conservatism who have the best interests of our country at heart!
I think most of those who call themselves “conservatives” are really from the FAR Right. One particular thing that annoys me about Neo-Conservativism is this so called “family values” being forced down one’s throat.
Why do I need the government to tell me what a “family value is”?
Anyway, For those whom are true to Conservatism, you might want to take a look at this site. There is a reason why it exists.
I mean, there IS also a very good reason why McPalin used “CHANGE” as their campaign slogan too, right?
It’s because both conservatives AND liberals are sick and tired of the government telling us what to do, what to believe in, who to be, and how to live our lives. We all got tired of Uncle Sam spending money like a drunken sailor. And the neocons in office are no better than the Democrats who strip us from our freedoms as well. Just to make that clear.
This blogger’s intentions (from sorryeverbody.com) are genuine, thoughtful, and rather very touching. For some reason, however, he thought that by Obama having won the presidential race that Americanophobia would die?
Additionally, Aby the so called “internationalist liberal” reiterates the fact that she and her “crew” will continue to mercilessly bash the American people in her blog no matter who’s president. The self-proclaimed “tolerant internationalist” promises also to unveil even more of her self-loathing deep-seated hatred for Americans in future posts as in a series. Woo hoo. Her goal is to let her American audience know why they are hated and how the phenomenon of European tolerance Euro-bigotry is justified and has nothing to do with who is the POTUS. So, we’re all on the edge of our seats now, hey?
Why would things change post-election, anyway? I’ve been saying this in my blog for ages, but Americanophobia has N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with the president of the United States and/or any human rights violations we’ve committed. NOTHING.
Barack Obama is on his Canadian honeymoon today, but tomorrow he is certain to become merely another target for those who reject America’s world view.
On April 29th, 2008 the article, “American Unpopularity Abroad: What It Really Means” was submitted online to prove to Americans that no matter what we do, Americanophobes will always be Americanophobes. William Moloney states, …
“The Democratic narrative goes like this: Get the troops out of Iraq and Barack or Hillary into the White House and American popularity abroad will soar. Group hugs will abound. Old allies will become new friends, and vie with one another to pony up more money and troops for all good causes. Arm in arm we’ll suppress the nuclear ambitions of Iran and North Korea, stand up to Russia and China, rally to the defense of Israel, and put an end to global warming…”
Right?
WRONG!
The linked article up above goes on to explain one of the many reason Americanophobes will continue hating and being as ignorant as a lobotomized duck.
With Obama, Spiegel and others will no longer be focusing attacks on the American executive (at least in the short-term) as was standard practice under Bush. Instead, as we have previously speculated, they will likely turn to attacking broader aspects of American society (the economic downturn is the current dominant theme) for all that is wrong in the United States and the world. Think World Scapegoat USA. Think pet peeves. Having to respect Obama just makes accomplishing what readers require a bit more demanding. Just slapping Bush and a desecrated US flag on the cover will no longer cut mustard after January 20…
But anti-Americanism did not begin with George W Bush and it wouldn’t end with Barack Obama in the White House The attacks of 9/11 were the ugliest and bloodiest ever manifestation of anti-Americanism. They may have happened when George W Bush was in the White House but they were planned when President Clinton was Commander-in-Chief. They were executed when Bush was still promising a humbler, less interventionist foreign policy. Although most of the world grieved with America in the weeks after 9/11, many of its critics rejoiced. Le Monde did publish the headline ‘We Are All Americans’ after 11 September 2001 but noted in the text below: “[T]he reality is perhaps also that of an America whose own cynicism has caught up with [it]”.[3] The US Ambassador to London was reduced to tears after a hostile BBC Television audience attempted to blame American foreign policy for the attacks on Washington and New York. Anti-Americanism was alive and kicking before the invasions of either Afghanistan and Iraq.
Just in case you missed it, Americanophobia began in the 19th century, folks. It’s here to stay. We have always been perceived as a bunch of typical, inbred, insular, nationalistic, paranoid, arrogant, fat, lazy, uncouth, vulgar, greedy, racist, spoiled-rich, slutty, ignorant, stupid, humorless, loud, obnoxious, gum-chewing, carbon-emitting, baby-killing, gun-toting, bible-thumping, flag-waving, self-centered, and globalizing Neanderthal Americans.
Sarah Palin, despite having the lowest approval rating in recorded history among VP candidates, is now THE NEW FACE OF AMERICA. Despite Obama being elected (by a large majority) as president of the United States, Sarah Palin is stillTHE NEW FACE OF AMERICA. So, yeah. Our image is increasingly getting worse and will only continue to rise once all of them find out that Obama is leaning toward the center or is actually a Republican.
So, dear America, stop wasting your time trying to get on anyone’s “good side”. It’s fruitless as you’re dealing with a bunch of hateful xenophobes that mirror similar values to those American neocon extremists that are equally annoying. The Americanophobes don’t give a hoot how liberal or how far to the Left of Center you are. They don’t care how many stamps and pages your American passport contains. They hate YOU and are waiting for the next terrorist attack in the US so that they have another excuse to mindlessly parade around with burning flags, celebrate, and cheer in the streets.
And if you think that the Americanophobes are just an extremist group that only represent the minority in Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and South America, you are sorely mistaken.
Americanophobia and anti-Semitism need to exist. It’s a necessary evil for those who feel small. Americanophobes across the globe, enjoy defining America by her Extremists. Their media’s slant focuses on American’s extremists and all of it’s flaws. Americanophobes abroad believe in fabricated images of the supposed “typical American”. Some of us believe that the “ugly American image” helps other countries feel more patriotic about themselves to avoid facing their own shortcomings. But my friends,… this is what Americanophobia is all about: mindlessness, laziness, genetic defects, misplaced anger, scapegoatism, brainwashing, the need to belong, belief without question, inferiority complexes, lack of pride in one’s place in the world, and just plain old ignorance.
And lastly, if you’re an Americanophobe reading this, you have no right to whine about how Americans stereotype YOU when you do the same yourselves. Get off of your high horses and look in the mirror for a change!
Side Note:Oh gee, I just remembered that when Barack Obama gets assassinated, how all the Americanophobes will have a field day, and are going to *NOT* blame the assassin (especially if he gets the death penalty), but rather blame the rest of the innocent 300+ million for it. It will be about how all 300 million of us are racists and how we all conspired together to kill him. Can you really expect any more from one of the most vile extremist groups in the world?
Don’t be naive. These people are just as much our enemy as the Islamic Fundamentalists. We need to get out of NATO and the UN and screw the rest of the world. Americans are starting to get fed up.
“I am a conservative who spent one evening responding to posts on your blog. I mentioned then that I would support Obama if he won, even though I was supporting McCain’s campaign. I feel it was my duty to send my congratulations to our next president through you and your community, since I used your forum to enter into a spirited debate. I will honor my pledge to respect Obama as our American president. I certainly intend to exercise my first amendment rights to try to persuade him and others away from policies that I oppose, but I will be respectful of him and his office. I will also reprimand others who fail to show such respect.
I do not plan to return to this site, as I got so engaged in the vigorous debate that I lost track of time, and I missed saying prayers with my kids and tucking them in that night. We have added our new president to our prayer list. I assure you, we are not praying from a sense of self-interest. We only pray that he be granted the wisdom that is necessary to successfully execute his duties in a way that leads our country to greater peace and prosperity.
I believe it is un-American to wish ill upon anyone in order to gain some advantage. I want America to reach her greatest potential; therefore, I want Obama’s presidency to be the most successful in history — until the next president is elected, whichever party that person might represent, then the next president, and so on.
Who knows — perhaps I’ll end up voting for Obama in 2012. I will remain open to that possibility.
Please share this message with your community.”
This is an email that was sent to the blog, “CrooksandLiars”. You don’t see balanced speech like this often, so I was compelled to share this.
And this.

First let me start off by saying congratulations to the Democrats, after a hard fought race you have come out on top and finally have your chance to lead. Let me also say that though I admittedly disagree with Barack Obama’s policies and ideology, I wish our new President Elect nothing but the best. I am an American before I am a member of a party and for the sake of all of us hope that Barack Obama makes the right decisions for our Country. I know many of you are very upset today, but let me remind you of something, there is an opportunity to be had in an Obama victory. This victory gives conservatives a chance for a fresh start and allows us to rebuild our party bigger and stronger.
Your all blithering idiots! Sorry I had to be that blunt but I spent the morning cruising from blog to blog and seemed to keep stumbling upon these sites that just, quite simply, had nothing to say. It seems like they spend all their time and energy spinning hate and disgust for the other side. Instead of spending time trying to come up with one constructive thought about whats going on in the world they regurgitate what they just read on their favorite editorial site and then proceed to bash the opposite side for not seeing it their way.
I find it hard to believe that someone could actually believe their side is 100% right. Instead of bashing the other side maybe, and sit down when you read this, you might spend your time actually thinking of ways to better the political party you so staunchly protect, hold your leaders accountable for the promises they make and break, both parties have them.
No side is worse then the other because collectively they wouldn’t be able to come up with one original thought to better themselves or mankind. Rather, they seem quite content with being pigeon holed in their own private hells.
Well, for any of you that this post might address I leave you with one thing to read, HAS FREETHOUGHT A CONSTRUCTIVE SIDE?, courtesy of the one blog, No Religion Now, that actually got me to think today and delivered me to writing this post.
I am subscribed to WordPress Political Blogs in my Google Reader. Most of the blogs I find there are “conservative”. Reasonable debates with the far Right is a challenge. Only very few can manage a back-n-forth disagreement without resorting to putting words in my mouth or insulting my person. The Red Pill from Cadillactight is one conservative blogger that is an AWESOME debater. But these types of civilized debates are becoming extinct through the “Us versus Them” mentality and divisive politics that the Far Right has successfully established in this country. And sometimes I wonder if it is because they are still bitter about their loss in the Civil War. That bitterness must have been taught from one generation to the next. Well, that’s one of my zany liberal conspiracy theories, so I probably have no idea what I am talking about.
Additionally, if you do a lot of reading, you’ll notice that when the Right tries to sell buttons or T-shirts, a lot of their stuff reads, “Piss off a Liberal, but a Sarah Palin 2012 pin” or “Piss off a Liberal, buy a gun” or “Piss off a Liberal, work hard a be happy” and the list goes on. They act like hormonal teenagers stuck in angst-mode. They just don’t sound like the happy-go-lucky people that they incessantly brag to be.
And I’m not the only liberal to miss spirited debate with those conservatives still valiantly defending the reality based community, such as Gergen, Powell, Christopher Buckley and the like.
‘There was a time when conservatives were, in my opinion, wrong about everything, but you could interpret facts differently from them and be right without necessarily dismissing them as insane. I really hope we can get back to that kind of honest debate. It was intoxicating.’
Dissent is not divisive. Dissent is not Anti-American. It’s called being a member of the free world. But some extremists from the Right like Ms Governor Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann prefer America to be separated into two different countries.
Yes. The very height of Elitism.
Just when we thought that Elitism was the word to describe the Left.
This article and video has been circulating about the internet like cancer. You can find it in all the neocon blogs. They are lapping it up like thirsty cats who haven’t had anything to drink for days.
See the video for yourself. If you ask me, it exposes the dumb on the Right – NOT the Left.
This video displays the unintelligence and naivete on the Right for the following reason:
These videos are so incredibly easy to make. Just go on Youtube and in the search engine type “stupid Americans” or “dumb Americans” and you’ll find literally thousands of videos where Americans are interviewed on their political knowledge and all of them sound retarded.
What’s happening? It’s biased. Let’s say that 200 people are interviewed, they’ll find 50 of the dimmest bulbs and then only show them. This is common knowledge to those people who have a clue.
I could easily do that with Republican voters and get the same results. Something tells me that they would prove more embarrassing than their Liberal counterparts.
This is the kind of “media” I don’t take seriously. It’s funny because the wingnuts are always complaining about the bias and lies of the “Liberal media”. See? Typical Republican hypocrisy at its finest!
And finally, those people who cannot tell that Obama was just joking when he said there were 57 states, need to die. Republicans know very well that he was joking, but in the absence of anything substantial to find on Obama, our right-wing lunatics grasp at straws to find something – anything that they can find to place Obama in a bad light. If you don’t see that he was joking, that’s pretty sad. You need to get out more, laugh, and live life.
The fact that you right-wingnuts believe anything that comes from your end, to me, is scary. And with that said, your juvenile attempts to discredit your fellow Americans and the to-be president of the United States sounds like YOU are the REAL brain-dead Anti-Americans.
I’m listening to the Bill O’Reilly No Spin Zone talk show on the radio right now. Actually Bill thinks this video and “research” isn’t fair either. He challenges John (the one who conducted this “research) to do the same with the Right. John was a guest on his show today – just in case you missed it. But knowing John and his bias, I doubt that he has the courage to conduct fair research.
On another note, it’s funny… as I learned about Ayers, Rezco, and Pastor Wright courteousy of (are you ready for this?)CNN. Naturally, the Far Right hates CNN because they always fairly show both sides of every story unlike most Republican talk-radio hosts.
…how what happened in the US under Bush’s watch was blamed on Bill Clinton?
Now, Obama isn’t even sworn in as an official POTUS and all of the country’s ills are being blamed on him (Obama).
What does this mean? No matter what a Republican does, it is always clean, sharp, and shiny to the zombies Bush-worshippers we have around here.
The people that think that the Clinton administration helped orchestrate 9-11 are as dim as those who think that Bush caused Hurricane Katrina.
For those idiots that think Bill Clinton caused 9-11 or didn’t do enough to prevent it, what the hell cave are you people living in? Do yourself and this country a big favor and purchase a copy of the “9/11 Commission Report”. Or read it for free here. It’s the final report of the national commission on terrorist attacks upon the US. It is the authorized edition.
Straight from the back of my own copy of the book:
IN NOVEMBER 2002, the United States Congress and President George W. Bush established by law the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission. This independent, bipartisan panel was directed to examine the facts and circumstances surrounding the September 11 attacks, identify lessons learned, and provide recommendations to safeguard against future acts of terrorism.
The book is 567 pages long. Since Neo-Republicans claim to be literary scholars, I’m sure you will be able to read it. There were AMPLE warnings that this attack would happen. IT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED DURING BUSH’S TERM. But it wasn’t. And this is the painful truth that right-wing radicals cannot accept.
Surely, Clinton could have done something to ensure 9-11 wouldn’t happen either. But to simply blame 9-11 on “Liberal policies” is outlandish and frighteningly ignorant.
Osama Bin Forgotten meant NADA ZIP ZILCH ZIPPO 無しNOTHING to Bush. He gave up after a couple of years while he was weak enough to let Cheneyhalliburton take over and turn this place literally upside down which eventually led Bush into the lowest approval rating in recorded history at 23%.
I am embarrassed to share the same oxygen and landmass with some of my fellow compatriots who speak so over-confidently about issues they don’t care enough about to learn about. The outstanding lack of curiosity and over-the-top partisanship is sickening.
Over the last seven years, those very patient terrorists have been planning another attack. It’s not IF it will happen again, it’s when. And when it happens, guess who will be blamed? Yep, you guessed it. It will be Obama’s fault.
Bush began his presidency in 2001. We were attacked on September 11th, 2001. Bush will leave very soon (2009). That’s how many years? Yep. Eight years. That’s nine months BEFORE the attack happened and 7 whole years to clean up the slop we call “Homeland Security”.
Just ask yourself the following questions. Since 9-11…,
Has airport security really changed?
During the last 7 years, have our borders tightened up?
Have we taken Osama bin Forgotten, the Taliban/Al Qaeda seriously?
Have we tried to clean up foreign policy to make both Israel and the Palestinians happy? Or at least somehow try to be more balanced in that area?
What concrete changes have actually been made under Bush – aside from the loose cannon we call the “Patriot Act”?
Again, like any other disaster on our turf, it’s always a bipartisan screw up. But I would really like to think that Bush took the 9-11 terrorist attacks just a tiny bit more seriously. As painful as this may be for your ears to hear, I have just as much love and passion for my country as you do. And I only wish Bush had that same passion.
Do you think it is possible that we will ever learn and come together as a nation? Or must we get attacked a few more times before someone wakes up?
The mania and obsession revolved around Palin is literally endless, and I don’t have anywhere near the time to address any more of it. The above alone should give you a clue that Obamessiah ain’t the only one people are putting on brown shirts over…
“She does not represent my views at all, and I never planned on voting for that ticket to begin with, but I seriously found myself feeling sorry for her when I watched her Couric interview. The other interviews were bad enough, even the Hannity softball one, but OMG, watching her just makes me feel like you do when a little kid is in a school play and completely forgets his lines and you just feel sorry for him and you almost want to reach out and help him somehow, but you can’t.
Whatever overconfidence and bravado this individual was able to display in the beginning has melted into a confused deer-in-the-headlights.
I personally hope she stays on the ticket, as she is absolute gift for the Obama/Biden ticket, which has been my opinion since she was chosen”. — Julia O
—> Because she’s pretty and the Right think with their genitalia. Isn’t voting for someone just because they’re hot and have a vajayjay, objectifying women as in…. *gasps* sexism?
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. “She asked the library how she could go about banning books,” he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. “The librarian was aghast.” That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn’t be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving “full support” to the mayor.
—> Because she’s ignorant about her own country and the world around her. The radicals can relate to this frightening level of dumb as exemplified below:
—> Because she’s pro-life, she loves to kill defenseless and innocent animals just for the sake of the kill. Because she’s pro-life and risked “her baby’s” own life as evident here. Because she’s pro-life and supports a war based of false pretences.
And if you think it’s jealousy that vetted out Governer Sarah Palin, you might want to read this before you rush to judge. Neocons have an amazing ability to conveniently confuse dissent with jealousy as a means to deal with the fact that their Messiah is less than poifect.
Palin’s wardrobe still continues to be brought up by both the Right and the Left. I never even looked deeply into all that drama as I really didn’t care about it. Usually, I’ll go to factcheck.org or politifact.com to see who’s telling the truth and who’s not to get the FACTS versus the RUMORS. But this issue was too trivial for me to bother. Additionally, I just assumed that the RNC/GOP wanted to win so badly that they had to do something to make her look good to counteract her horrible reputation (that had nothing to do with the “liberal media”). So, in a way, I found it justified.
BUT!
Yes, there’s a but.
The only thing that bothered me about Palin’s $145820008875641.00 wardrobe is the fact that she was a woman who claimed to be representing the *middle class average Joe’s*. Am I correct with this assumption? I found it a bit odd that one who is trying to desperately reach to our level to be wearing outfits that the average man in the street couldn’t even begin to afford to wear. One pair of her shoes alone cost more than what a married couple has in their entire closet. Her folksy speak was empty – despite how horny she made many American conservatives feel.
If Palin hadn’t been incessantly claiming to be “sympathetic” to the working class Americans, her wardrobe would be absolutely NO issue for me AT ALL. Period.
Next, she purchased her clothes where the Hollywood and Washington ELITES buy their clothes. Isn’t that ironic considering that on the campaign trail she was railing against those very same *elites*?
What about Hillary Clinton? Despite her many flaws (that had nothing to do with the conservative media), she never went on and on and on and on ad nauseam pretending to be every Joe’s BFF. Look at her wardrobe. She practically wore the same clothes (different color) every time we saw her. Hillary didn’t have the best fashion or the best style. But she represented the middle class better and more efficiently than Palin who unintentionally made it clear that she was above American Joe’s, above American people who lived in the “Anti-American parts” or “big towns and cities” of the US, and above American ethics.
At the end of the day, who are the REAL elitists? Who are the real fiscal conservatives?
Note:For those who don’t want to read this whole diatribe, please scroll all the way to the bottom of this post and address my comments and questions regarding the apparent “jealously” of Gov. Sarah Palin. Thanks.
—> This just in. One of 58878500025568 blogs that swear all American liberals are jealous of Sarah Palin are a bit confused.
Radical Conservatives Confuse Dissent with Jealousy
Let’s see, she did a two-day interview with Matt Lauer, a two-day interview with Wolf Blitzer, a three-day interview with Greta Van Susteran, and is having her door blown down by Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, and Larry King as well.
In fact; even profound writers like Claire Guehenno cannot seem to shut up about Gov. Palin. Gee, I wonder why.
The oppressed, modern-day liberal women are terrified that a conservative woman can be accomplished.
How exactly am I “oppressed”? The last time that I checked I was living in the United States of America where one is FREE to LIVE and DO as they PLEASE and make choices that fulfils them. I am looking at my passport right now, and I swear it doesn’t say “Saudi Arabia”. It says, “USA” on it.
Just about every conservative blog I run across, there are a few posts that are showing how the only reason a Republican wasn’t elected this time around was because the 66,882,230 Americans that voted for Obama were just doing so because they are jealous of Sarah Palin’s success. Because Sarah Palin “has got it all”.
Define “having it all?” (And please leave out personal choices because anybody can make a choice!).
Why do so many liberal men and women hate Bush (you have been around for the last 8 years, right?), why do so many liberals hate Cheney, McCain?
Wake up you brain-dead Neocons! Where the hell were you when thousands of books have been written to criticize Bush, when many movies were made to embarrass him, when many people protested in the streets about the war, when just about all the networks ridiculed him (even Republican talk-radio if you can imagine that), bashed him unashamedly, comedians picked him apart mercilessly, when all we heard for 8 years were complaints made by Americans and the rest of the world. Eight long years of Bush to the point where he now has a 23% APPROVAL RATING! Did you hear that? Yes, a 23% APPROVAL RATING. THAT IS A ***HISTORICAL LOW***.
What did you honestly think would happen this election? Seriously.
Why do so many conservatives hate Obama? You don’t think he’s an accomplished man? If you knew where he came from and his struggle to get where he is today, YOU’D BE JEALOUS! Not us. YOU. He has achieved much more depth in his lifetime than Palin can ever dream of. Even Hillary Clinton has achieved way much more than Palin. But of course, you filter out anything that could ever possibly put Obama and Hillary in a positive light recognizing them for what good they have done instead of obsessing about the “bad” which are mostly conspiracy theories and fabricated stories revolved around hyperbole and paranoia.
Can’t you guys get your head out of your collective asses for just one moment and accept that fact that people’s views about candidates have more to do with their BELIEFS and the ECONOMY than a candidate’s personal achievements, personal choices or personal life? Were you really expecting liberals like me to be a traitor to our own values and convert to Team Palin just because she has nice legs and was a pro-life governor?
We know for a fact that neocons hate Hollywood TV and movie stars, we also know that you people HATE the 78% of American Jews (the richest and most successful people in America) who voted for Obama. That, my friends, can easily be attributed to j-e-a-l-o-u-s-y. But you guys say it’s because Hollywood is Liberal and they are freaks that make arses out of themselves. Well, we don’t like Palin because she’s a Radical Right-wingnut that made her own party (even during the campaign) criticize her.
Do you wingnuts not realize how vulnerable you make yourselves in saying that Obama fans are jealous of Palin? For the record, we make fun of her and criticize her because she makes a grand international fool out of herself on a daily basis. The entire world is laughing at her. You’re too busy calling Obama an Arab terrorist Hilter-apologizing NeoNationalSocialist baby-killer to even have the time to find out what an embarrassment Palin is to the US in the SAME WAY that Bush was!
And men feel the same way American women feel about Palin.
This jealousy card has been over-used. You have hit rock bottom. You people make it like the Messiah, Sarah Palin is the first woman to have ever been accomplished? Once you find liberal woman jealous of the billions and billions of women who have made something out of themselves, then you’ll have a case. Right now, you guys are just looking desperate. And keep in mind, it was the PROGRESSIVES that have taken women where they are today. Since when are Republicans all of the sudden worried about “feminism”?
Maybe you guys cannot handle the fact that a black man can be an accomplished man in the United States?
Seriously people, you’re scraping a bottomless barrel here….
What I would Looooooooooooooooooooove to see is a Liberal woman one day go up against a conservative male candidate in a future election that is a knock-out (looks are the only thing that Palin has over Hillary). You betcha. Oooooh, we libs would have so much fun with you guys. We’ll keep you busy at what you do best: graspin’ for straws and scrapin’ barrels.
Losers.
QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS FROM CURIOUS AMERICAN FEMALE LIBERALS
1) How is it humanly possible for someone to hate another for the choices that they make? Most of these successes you speak of are simply choices that ANYONE can make.
And based on what the neocons have written, that makes me quite a success myself if you think that I have practised my choices and am living life the way I want to. I am maybe not the happiest person in the whole world, but I am content with my life. And I wouldn’t trade places with anyone.
2) You mention that liberal women are oppressed. How is that?
3) What have you got to say to all the men who criticized Palin?
4) Why did liberal men and woman hate Bush if simply dissent is equated to jealousy?
5) With Bush’s approval rating being at a historical low of 23%, what did you think was going to happen this election?
6) If you are as old as I am, you’ll know that in harsh economic times, people are more compelled to vote Democrat.
7) Other than what negativity you have heard surrounding Obama, if you know his past – seeing where he came from and where he is now is more of a jump compared to Palin by a long shot. He is a successful man.
Do you think it’s just that conservatism hates to think that a black man can be accomplished?
8 ) The majority of liberals are Jews. 78% of Jews voted for Obama over Palin. If you know anything about American Jews, they are the richest, best looking, most successful, law abiding and decent people in America. Do you think that you’re just projecting and just jealous of American Jews and accomplished blacks?
9) It is the progressives that have fought for equal rights for women. Why are you criticizing them now?
10) Since when are Republicans concerned (all of the sudden, mind you) about Feminism and Sexism?
11) In record history, there has never been more hype and fanaticism over a VP candidate. Palin is your, “The One” – she is your “The Messiah”.
12) Here’s the true acid test. I’d love to see in a future election a Republican male against a HOT Liberal female. Then, we shall see who the true feminists are.
13) Quite obviously, Sarah is not the first ever accomplished woman in the history of the world. Can you think of any other woman that is equally – if not more accomplished than Palin that liberals have also attacked?
14) Aren’t you guys acting like the “liberal media” by making false accusations about Americans that you’ve never met – twisting, fabricating, exaggerating and all that jazz? You sound just like the Americanophobes that I rail against in my blog.
15) Let’s see. You’re sticking up for 1 female and bashing an estimated 40 million American female Obama voters. It appears to me that you hate women considering the Math. Could you perhaps be a misogynist?
So, exactly how are me and my female liberal compatriots “jealous”?
An 8-year-old Arizona boy charged with premeditated murder in the deaths of his father and another man shot each victim at least four times with a .22-caliber rifle, methodically stopping and reloading as he killed them, prosecutors said Monday.
I’m not going to share my opinion just yet, but let me ask some rhetorical questions:
Can children be born evil?
Well, let’s see… he had the perfect all-American dad. His dad taught him how to hunt, spanked him regularly and was innocently trying to discipline his child. With that said, why is his child a bad boy? Don’t we usually blame the lack of spankings on such violent kids of our modern times?
Right? Every time kids commit violent crimes, the conservatives blame it on “lack of spankings”. Well,… this little boy got his.
Although investigators initially said they thought the boy might have suffered severe physical or sexual trauma, they have found no evidence of abuse, said Roy Melnick, the police chief in St. Johns, Ariz., where the shootings occurred. Psychologists say such abuse is often a factor in the extremely rare instances in which a small child murders a parent.
What in the world constitutes “evidence” of abuse? Just because a psychologist says…….
An investigation found no evidence that the boy had had disciplinary problems at school or shown signs that he was troubled, Chief Melnick said. “That’s what makes this case somewhat puzzling,” he said, adding that the court had ordered a psychological evaluation for the boy. “Our goal is to get him some help.”
Puleeeeezzz. This case is not puzzling. The fact that some find this case “puzzling” just goes to show you how dim some people are.
Why is an 8 year old child getting training on how to use a gun and to hunt? HE’S EIGHT YEARS OLD! Back in my day, boys were playing softball, soccer in the streets, basketball in their front yards, climbing trees, and throwing eggs at random passing cars. The most violent were using bb-guns and their own fists.
The boy in Arizona was no stranger to weapons — his father, an avid hunter, reportedly trained his son to shoot prairie dogs — and psychologists said that might have played a role.
DEFINITELY! The kid learned that life was insignificant. And at such a young and impressionable age. That in and of itself is child abuse. You never expose the innocent to that.
This particular case says a lot more about our times, doesn’t it? Interestingly enough, it is around that age and earlier that little kids start to be trained on how to use guns in the MIDDLE EAST.
Parents are very rarely parents any more. They are just breeders. The only reason they have kids is to gain control over the powerlessness they feel as adults. Mistakes in family generations are repeated. The cycle continues. This kid was only doing what he was taught. Violence was all he knew. The concept of Life meant nothing. He became desensitized by learning how to kill for the sake of the kill.
“The wrinkle here,” Dr. Heide said, “is that this boy is so young, it could possibly be immaturity and impulsivity.” In children as young as 8, parts of the brain that weigh decisions and consequences are so underdeveloped that a child might not understand the finality of death.
Didn’t he learn from his hunting lessons that when you shoot, the subject DIES. Look at the methodical style he used against his dad? The kid knew what he was doing.
Mr. Carlyon said the boy told the police that he had been spanked at home the night before because he was having trouble at school. But, the prosecutor said, the boy “did not say that was the reason he committed any of the acts.”
Well, of course he’s going to deny the reason. He’s protecting himself from embarrassment. His father taught him to be “a man”, not a weenie Liberal who can’t take a beating and some “rough-housing”.
I sympathize with the kid. Hopefully this will teach a lesson to future parents or people having sex to use condoms when they’re not ready to procreate.
My readers who know me realize that I’m ultra-conservative when it comes to crimes and punishment, but for this one — give the kid some counseling. I don’t think he’s too old to figure out the dynamics of what just took place here.
End Note:Just in case any knee-jerk reactionaries come here, I DO support the 2nd amendment. But this particular case goes above and beyond that. There’s a big difference between gun owners for self-defense and gun-owners who are irresponsible. This little boy’s dad was, sadly, the latter.
Bill O’Reilly’s viewers are dumber than Jon Stewart’s.
Liberals wish. Democrats like to think that voters who sympathize with their views are smarter than those who vote Republican. But a 2007 Pew survey found that the knowledge level of viewers of the right-wing, blustery “The O’Reilly Factor” and the left-wing, snarky “The Daily Show” is comparable, with about 54 percent of the shows’ politicized viewers scoring in the “high knowledge” category.
So what about conservative talk-radio titan Rush Limbaugh’s audience? Surely the ditto-heads are dumb, right? Actually, according to a survey by the Annenberg Public Policy Center, Rush’s listeners are better educated and “more knowledgeable about politics and social issues” than the average voter.
Wait. Just a minute there. I have a problem with this. Republicans who are reading this article (with goo goo eyes thinking they’ve scored another point against the Obamabots) that has been spread wildly about the internet are getting the false impression that Liberals only watch Liberal media and comedy shows, and that Conservatives only watch Conservative pundits and the non-existing Conservative comedy programs (although SNL can take some pretty hilarious diggs at the Libs…).
I watch Bill O’Reilly (he’s really a Liberal, anyway), Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter (she’s so magnetic!), and so do many other Liberals. I also listen to Mike Gallagher, Michael Medved, and Jim Bohannan on Republican talk radio. Many conservatives also watch Leftist comedy on Comedy Central and on other networks: The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, SNL, Mad TV and what have you? I cannot imagine that my friends, family and I are the only ones who listen to shows “out of their politosphere” in the media. It just can’t be a coincidence.
Republican talk radio is very refreshing and entertaining to get alternative views even if I don’t agree with them. The callers are interesting too. And some conservatives listen to Liberal news to have something to talk about in their blogs. Sometimes we just love to watch what we HATE to listen to. I don’t know the psychology behind that. But we do this! (Micheal Medved, however, can get pretty nauseating with his inane pollyannistic view of the world).
Anyway, with that said, I take that article with a grain of salt – especially since it’s from ***gasps*** THE LIBERAL MEDIA! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, you Republicans = Fail.
My advice to my friendly neocon readers:Stop watching our fucking funny as hell comedy and tree-hugging pundits. You are polluting our brain pool!!!
Oh no, Virgo. Nobody can forget that name or that gravatar. I took a look at your blog. Don’t fool yourself. You’re anything but grounded, fair or deep, and feeling about politics is exactly why libs don’t get it. I’ll tell you what. Wickle’s blog is not the proper place for me to point out how muddled your thinking is. Why don’t we agree to meet sometime over at Chen’s board where I feel like I’ve got a little more room to ‘eviscerate’ some of your, shall we say, “deeper” thoughts you’ve posted on your blog. I’ve found libbies like you, once challenged, have a sneaky habit of censoring comments when they get angry. Simply put, I don’t trust you or your type.
Well, as you can see in Deanna’s blog, there is some history not only with her, but also with the author of “Ideas and Revolution” as well. He seems to have a reputation for going from one liberal blog to the next with personal attacks and then has the audacity to label comment policies that forbid ad hominem attacks “a sneaky libbie” thing.
Basically what Tex Taylor is looking for is free therapy. He has a lot of pent up anger and is looking for people that will allow him to walk all over them. Beating his wife, children and dog probably isn’t enough for him.
Little does he realize that his own party has similar policies on their blogs. Clearly, he has no clue about what he’s talking about.
“…Since I’ve often witnessed your comments on Chen’s board before and found them ‘flaccid’ and shallow, never bothering to think them worthy of comment, …”
Classic!
I’ve only noticed Chen’s blog from either May or June. And I have only very rarely commented there. I’d say probably about 6 or 7 times out of which two of my comments could have possibly been meaningless.
Notice how he makes no effort to back himself up, but I have a feeling that the “shallow comment” that I made was here. Anyway, if that was the “shallow comment” that he was referring to (and believe me, I was expecting that kind of response from some neocon to point out the shallowness which is how I found that comment so quickly) that was just the short version of how I really felt. Not that he’d really care about what I had meant by that response, anyway, as apparently all Obama supporters are shallow mindless sheeple that sit around all day collecting welfare and sipping kool-aid.
Or better yet….
a Godless, Jew-hating, weenie, Nazi-appeasing-Hitler-apologist, hairy, smelly, tie-dye, tree-hugging, weed-smoking, homo-loving-marriage-destroying, lazy-welfare-mongering, acid-tripping, baby-killing, kool-aid-drinking, broccoli-granola-soy-tofu-eating vegan, treasonous, bra-burning, flag-burning, draftcard-burning, bleeding-heart, Jane-Fonda-loving and Charles Manson-admiring, constitution/freedom-hating, Anti-American incessant-whiner pinko commie A-rab-terrorist-sympathizer who has a hidden agenda to overthrow the American government and its people.
But I’m not holding my breath! Surely enough, he won’t challenge any of my words. A civil debate is out of the question. We “shallow untrustworthy libbies” realize that’s how you knee-jerk reactionaries roll. It’s not even about politics any more. It’s about lazy people that just talk but don’t take the time to listen, understand, and research. Critical thinking is a dirty word.
Same talking points
Same rhetoric
Same baseless conclusions
Same ad hominem used in their self-proclaimed “deep arguments”
Same misconstruing other people’s words and comments to mean something entirely different. As you can see from this comment alone targeted at someone else, Tex Taylor is the poster-child of your one-dimensional simpleton who sees the world and its people with a narrow black and white mentality – rather than recognizing that there are grays everywhere. And he’s the same person that calls himself “deep”.
Same pots calling the kettle black
Same shoot first ask questions later
Same people deathly afraid of facts
Different day
Different self-righteous neocon
Note to those like Tex Taylor: Try to get to know a little bit more about my blog (that is what those links at the head of my page are there for) before you jump to inane conclusions about me and what I write. If you want to be taken seriously, you probably want to quote me and back yourself up and follow-up. Otherwise, you’ll look shallow. I mean, you don’t want to sound like a hypocrite, do you?
My Final Response to him after another round :
I have a personal testimonial? Where? (He had mentioned that I had a personal testimonial on my blog)
By the way honey love, what was it I misspelled?
It’s “through” not “thru”.
Fair enough…take your pick of any moronic post you addressed to me on Wickle’s blog. All were long on context, rambling, and light on substance. You must have been catching a buzz because it appeared your words started slurring across the page.
See, you’re the one making the accusations. So, you’re the one responsible for the burden of proof. Quoting would be helpful. Line by line.
If you want me to get specific, how about the first one where you accused me of being the zealot feminist? That alone ought to create a few chuckles on this board.
Suggesting that anyone who is not a fan of Palin is jealous is obviously demeaning to stay-at-home mothers. Because people like you only give score points to career mothers who have big families and hunt. Also, your usage of the word jealousy to describe those that criticize her is old – very overused by your kind and tired. Some originality would be refreshing as your statements are in every right-wing blog. The mere suggesting that someone is jealous of one just because they are critical of them is as juvenile as one can get.
You know the post I speak of, right love? The one that vacillated between a rant, baby talk, a sermon, an insult, and a question? Some problem about you being the housewife, and the one where you don’t hunt, and you being all woman? I am woman, hear me roar?
I took a look at your pic. I took a look at Sarah’s pic. That is all I need to know about the enraged envy and misguided hatred.
P.S.
Anybody that is a militant atheist as you apparently are, is beyond stupid in my book .
See, Tex, speaking of “painful”… That’s all you can do is name-call and resort to ad hominem attacks on people’s character and looks. Sad. Your looks can’t be that great if all you have the balls to show is your eyeball.
It tells me that you don’t have an argument, so you fill in the void with insulting language and intolerance against those that have a different opinion than yourself.
And you expect me and others to take you seriously?
It tells me that I can’t defend myself and that I must just sit here and have you tell me everything that is wrong with me. I have much more respect for myself than to listen to your verbal abuse that you imply to be “deep, rational, and morally superior”. You need to get over yourself, really. You are giving yourself more credit than you deserve.
You can’t argue one on one. Unlike you, I am not worried about an “internet reputation”. I call things as I see them. You don’t have to agree. Nobody does. Get over the fact that others may look at life differently.
You find comfort over here because you know that people will defend you. That is cowardly. The reason my blog is painful for you is because you are too scared to fight alone. Do you not realize how transparent your behavior is? It comes to me as no surprise that you have been banned and censored from other blogs.
You go ahead and find another “ass to kick in front of the whole world” to make yourself feel better about yourself. Your ego must need it. You surely sound very insecure and lonely wherever you are, and I am not going to apologize for not rubbing your ego.
I won’t be back here – nor will I continue this useless argument. You just want someone to not debate with, but to fight with. There are plenty of other people in cyberspace I am sure that will be happy to get into a mud-slinging “put down match” with you. I am not one of them. Sorry.
I may be an atheist. But your self-proclaimed “Christianity” is not convincing as by what you have just written, doesn’t sound like any TRUE Christian that I know.
It’s been nice to have met you, anyway. I think you need a hug. I am sure somebody will give you one. Take care and feel better soon, love.
I wonder how I am a “militant atheist”? This comment was also very amusing as this is just another thing he’s pulled out of his ass from god-knows-where.
This brand of right-wingnuts are as dumb as a brick. He’s proof that our education system needs to be revamped. It is no wonder why the rest the world judges us so harshly. People like Tex Taylor give the United States an embarrassing name. I am thankful, however, that there are more civil and reasonable Conservatives out there. Actually, those like Tex are in the minority. I only very rarely come across his kind. And I am grateful for that. There is still hope for humanity.
P.S. If anyone wants to see how the rest of the “debate about Sarah Palin” panned out, you can read the rest here. Chen’s Chamber Lounge is password protected, but here’s the direct link for those that have access.
And Liberals are self-loathing, whiny, pessimist, paranoid, humorless hacks… according to Team Red.
This myth created around liberals only began when Bush took office and became increasingly a popular rumor in the last 4 years of his presidency.
The far Right have a tendency to think all-things-one-dimension. Complex subjects and complex things confuse them. They give up frustrated and wave the white flag of surrender. So, leave it up to the far stretched-out Right to come up with something so bizarre, although could very well be true. Let’s take a look.
Here’s what’s happening:
Let’s start with humor. Do any of you not realize that Comedy Central and most comedians are liberal? Yes, those people that make us laugh in the movies and on TV screens all the time, are LIBERALS. We rule the entertainment and comedy industry. So, there goes your theory that Liberals hate to make jokes and laugh. Interestingly enough, it can’t be a coincidence that those who don’t get my sense of humor are often hardcore conservatives.
Liberals and conservatives have been polled. When asked if they are happy, generally the conservatives say that they are happy, and the liberals respond saying that they are not happy.
We first have to define “happy”. Maybe we see happiness differently? Have you ever thought of that? For example, it may just be that “happy” to conservatives is defined on more of a superficial level whereas Liberals define happiness on a deeper level seeing the big picture instead of focusing on one thing? Saying that you’re not happy doesn’t necessarily mean that you hate yourself, your world, your life, and all people.
So I hate that conservatives “don’t care” but I think they may be closer to living in their moment than I in mine. I’m always stuck in the “as soon as this problem is solved or over, then, I can get on with my life.” Trouble is another one just pops up to replace the old one anyhow. So perhaps I don’t spend enough time on the wonder of today, and the blessings I actually have. And then again, that gets me to thinking. . . .
Staunch Conservatives have a tendency to repress emotion, be stoics, live in denial, and see the world through rose-colored glasses. The poster-boy of this type is the far Right Republican talk show host, Michael Medved. He is a pollyanna and so are the same people that feel all liberals walk around with scars on their wrists. Sharp people see right through pollyannas. And if you ask me, they are just miserable people with a mask. The thing is that they become pollyannas as a coping mechanism to deal with life’s stresses. But their pain is easily seen and comes out via passive aggression.
When you take a lemon and make lemonade out of it, it can prove to be worthwhile. But not all of the time. Some kind of balance is necessary and should depend on the situation. You people take that principle way too far. The Right who portrays themselves as the party of “straight talkers” and “politically incorrect shooters” seems odd to me when it is really the Left that expresses themselves more honestly taking the risk that they just might add to the “stereotype” or the “statistics” of a depressed and unhappy “Libbie”. We care less about what people think of us.
Speaking of learning how to survive stress. The Righteous Right believe in God and organized religion. That is their crutch. That is how they get through from day to day. And I respect that. And understandably, I can see how this would aid one who is going through rough spots in their life. I think that we all need a crutch. But perhaps it is more common for Liberals to not lean on shoulders to get through life? Maybe we do it on our own? Not saying this is good or bad. This is not an issue of who’s right or wrong. It’s an issue of which party has the most reliable survival mechanisms.
It appears to me that the Right have many coping techniques to get through life’s most rigid edges. When they feel powerlessness, they take control over others whereas a Liberal may see a psychiatrist for their depression or anxiety instead. The Right pulls out the bible, and the Left seeks science to feel better by attending therapy and becoming more aware of themselves. When one is aware of himself, he is also aware of his weaknesses as well as his strengths. The Right may only be aware of their strengths and tend to be over-confident when it comes to seeing themselves and their life realistically – hence the “happiness”.
And naturally, if you only think of yourselves and ignore the problems on our own turf and throughout the world, surely you’ll be happier. One man for himself. The charity that the Neo-conservatives are so famous for is, for the most part, only within their churches. The church-goers only protect their own. Outsiders can go fend for themselves.
The Right also tend to have a religious patriotism toward not only their country, but their own family as well. Even if they spent years being sexually abused by their own father and was brutally beaten by their mothers, they will faithfully back them and love them until their death.
You see, both Liberals and Conservatives are unhappy (rhetorically speaking).
What’s happening here is that Liberals are honest about how they feel. They are more in touch with themselves. They don’t wear the blinders. So, they respond to those Right-winged orchestrated polls with the truth.
Secondly, Neo-Conservatives are insecure with who they are and are always looking to find fault with those whom were unhappy with Bush and co. So, they go out and about to run these polls to PROVE that Liberals hate themselves and everybody to make the right-wingnutters feel vindicated about supporting Bush. Conservatives literally go out of their way with these childish tests to prove their superiority over the wrist-slashing-neo-pagan hacks.
Liberals are cynics and can be very skeptical, and that is often misconstrued with being “unhappy”. We are self-critical. We ask questions, we challenge authority, we challenge our own parents, sisters, and brothers, we may disagree with the “moral majority”, and THAT is thought of as being “clinically depressed” and/or “hate-mongering” by the Right.
Dumb people are happier. Ignorance IS bliss. There is no scientific evidence to prove this, but I have found that the dumbest people I know are the most ill-informed and self-contradictory. When you’re not living in reality in the REAL WORLD, you are bound to be happy. The more intelligent that you are, the more you realize the cruel world that we live in. It’s no excuse to not make the best of it, of course. But full awareness, by its very own nature is depressing. Some trivia:There are just as many sites on the internet that talk about dumb people being happier as there are Neo-Conservatives being happier. Some food for thought?
Speaking of Happy being connected to Dumb: Based on this article, you’d think that Liberals would be happy as it is “proof” that we are clearly the most uninformed out there!
And finally, I have a feeling that this “test” of “positivity levels” was done perhaps unfairly? They, more than likely, suppressed the mainstream liberal answers and only took notice of the FAR LEFT answers. They probably suppressed the answers from the often angry FAR RIGHT and just used the votes of the mainstream conservatives to compare with. If that is the case, Team Red has an excellent argument. The lunatic fringe on both sides of the fence are the scariest people I have ever met.
So, yeah, when you test mainstream conservatives with the looney Left, you’re going to get the results that you hoped for.
This lambasting of Liberals for their negativity about the world lasted throughout the entire eight years of GWB’s “flawless presidency”. To be fair, back in the 60’s hippie movement, the Left suppressed their frustrations about the world and the current state of affairs by getting stoned all the time. They didn’t want to see reality for what it was and used several things as crutches to get by.
Anywhooo……….
—>Fast forward to Nov. 4th, 2008<—
Some noteworthy things have changed.
Liberals have literally changed places with the Conservatives. Team Red has just honorably earned this sticker:
Team Red, on the other hand, are walking around with their heads between their knees, whining, making threats, whining, hoping for assassinations, whining, creating wild conspiracies, whining, hating, whining, making racist comments on youtube because they know they’re anonymous, whining, thinking the absolute worst of Obama, whining, crying, whining, having temper tantrums, whining, and hating Americans and America. They are probably taking that belt out whooping their kid’s ass and kicking their dog more than ever now. You thought that you knew the Righteous Right before, you should see them now. They are all knotted in bunches.
Oh. Did I forget to mention whining?
Damn. It feels so good to be on the other side for a change. Now, you still can cling bitterly to your guns-n-religion, ya hear? Or you could always do the liberal thing and pop a Prozac and start cutting yourself emo-style.
(Note: The only reason I write this is to show that these poll results are not as simple as thought to be. Many factors weigh in rather than the black and white happy vs sad comparison – although the conservatives just may be right about this one.)
Team Blue is constantly being accused of just liking Obama for the sake of it, not knowing who he is, what he stands for, and apparently we just like him because we like to chant, “Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama,”. Nothing more. Supposedly Obama is some kind of Messiah who will save us and that’s all we know. “Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, — yep – that’s all we chant. We don’t know what it means. We just say it. It sounds good. It’s the cool and hip thing to do. We liberals never paid attention to Obama/Biden’s website regarding the issues. We never read about either one of them. We just listened to Keith Olbermann on MSNBC and chanted “Yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, baby, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah”. That’s where we got all of our information. We were brainwashed to believe that Barack Obama would deliver SUNSHINE AND HAPPINESS to the US.
Simply put, all liberals voted for Obama because well, jus’ cuz. Fer notin’ oder dan votin’ fer da man jus’ cuz, sup yo?!
From having read numerous conservative blogs, it appears to be that even mainstream conservatives think that everyone is a Republican at heart, but those who say they aren’t, are either
Sexist or
Jealous of Sarah Palin
or in denial of their true inborn god-given conservative nature.
Well, guess what, everybody? I am a jealous sexist because I voted for Barack Obama thinking that he would give me sunshine and happiness and some jus’ cuz!
“Sarah Palin is everything these elite feminists aren’t. Happily married, good looking, good looking husband, big family, pro-life, apparently well adjusted, folksy, hunter gal, who apparently loves being a woman and a mother. On top of that, she could whip most of these liberal males. Doesn’t get anymore threatening than that to the kool-aid sipping crowd.” – Tex Taylor
1) Happily Married? Do you have proof that all Liberals are getting divorced or single? Just because a married couple are smiling and holding hands means that they are “happily married”? WTF? Ever hear of the “nice” neighbor next door that is suddenly accused of murder? Damn, you wingnuts are naive as fuck! Keep sipping that kool-aid.
2) Jealous of good looks? Does this mean that all liberals are ugly? Really? And for someone to be jealous of someone’s looks is pretty damn lame. It is a lame that only the right is capable of. To have even said that alone shows the level of superficial lows these people reach. Keep sipping that kool-aid.
3) Big Family? Are you serious? How exactly does a big family make one a better person? Liberals only have one child? Do they not procreate? And what is wrong with having just one kid? I guess it’s Godless to have just one kid? Probably something that only commies do, I guess. I surely didn’t receive that memo yet…. In any event, why would one be jealous of a big family when it is easy and more fun to have condomless sex and make babies. That is the easiest and one of the most enjoyable activities there are. This is not something to be jealous of. ANYONE CAN FUCK, you dimwats. LOL Keep sipping that kool-aid.
4) Jealous of pro-lifers? You probably want to explain that one to me. How can liberals be jealous, once again, of a choice that is simple to make? Keep sipping that kool-aid.
5) Well adjusted? Liberals are all mentally ill? (Or do you just mean the 78% of the rich and successful Jews that voted for Obama?) We are jealous of this? Let’s just say that we only see what they show us. Not even the most professional and experienced psychologists can give accurate assessments to determine whether or not one is “well adjusted”. Some of the most functional and “confident” people in the world are sociopaths, psychopaths, or narcissists . This is common knowledge, but leave it to the Reds to be so ignorant and blindly patriotic toward one woman they think they know everything about. Even the Obama supporters don’t sink to that level of perversion and worship-like obsessive behavior. Keep sipping that kool-aid.
6) Jealous of Folksiness? Omg…. we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, aren’t we? Hon, for the record, I can say, “you betcha” too. Not very hard. Sorry. Nothing to be jealous of there, love. Keep sipping that kool-aid.
7) A hunter gal? I am supposed to be jealous of a PRO-LIFE HUNTER-GAL. (Isn’t that an oxymoron?) Again, this is a choice. It is humanly impossible to be jealous of a choice. LOL (Just when you think things couldn’t get weirder!) Keep sipping that kool-aid.
8 ) Love being a woman and a mother? So, this is to imply that all liberal women wish that they were men? And this means that liberal women who procreate hate being moms? For the record, those who LOVE being a mother actually spend time with their children – the last time I checked. They don’t leave them with someone else to raise while mom and dad carry on with their self-serving lives. And how the hell do you people know what Palin loves? Keep sipping that kool-aid.
9) She could whip most liberal males? How is this? How does being a liberal equate to being a wimp, exactly? Because Palin has a gun she can kick ass? Is this the “my daddy can beat up your daddy syndrome” that is often exhibited by junior high schoolers? Psst… People that fight with a gun against someone else’s fist are cheating. Only a Republican can be so cowardly. I’ll see a REAL woman fight when the game is fair. I’ll see a REAL woman fight gun to gun or fist to fist. And why? The party of the elite and self-righteous bible-thumpers are putting an emphasis on the infantile “whipping ass”? Since when is this an achievement or something to be proud of? See, this is the level you imps lower yourselves to. The Christian pro-lifers just love violence so much, don’t they? What is up with that? Why is being violent something to boast about? A classic inferiority complex is what you people have that you must resort to violent words and behaviorisms to get your messages across. Keep sipping that kool-aid.
The bottom of the barrel is no more. You’ve scraped it all out. This is why you people have the reputation that you do. You are an embarrassment to America. You give us all a bad name. And you give your party a bad name. Your “values” are nothing short of delusions of grandeur and infantile short man syndrome and divisiveness.
To my readers: Just go look at all the conservative blogs out there. They all say the exact same thing. Same thing, but different wording written by a different author. Some of them probably even copy and paste. I cannot even begin to count how many times I have read the above. Literally on every RED blog. Go see for yourself.
The knee-jerk reactions to dissent are amusing to me. Lack of originality. Same regurgitated talking points.
In any event, I responded to this person even though he was preaching to the general audience who don’t oooooh and aaaaaaah THE Great Messiah Palin. I am a member of that audience. So, I found his comments quite personal (as a woman myself) and offensive and rightly so.
What is so very wrong with you conservatives??? I am genuinely curious! I really wish I could say that I was judging you all by your extremists, but extremists aren’t writing this drivel. Normal everyday mainstream Republicans are writing this.
This is what made me come to the conclusion that the Messiah for the Reds is Sarah Palin. She can do no wrong. She’s perfect. You know, the woman that looks like a woman, but can do boy-things too.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I used to play with toy cars when I was a little girl. I wonder if I’ve got a shot at becoming a VEEP someday. Or even prez. Oh yeah, and I beat my husband at arm-wrestling! Oh wow. Are horny conservatives now going to show up at my door step? Are they going to believe everything I say just because I am all woman who is capable of doing manly jobs? I can use an electric drill really well. But yannoooooo, I just don’t have it in me to kill animals just for the sake of the kill to feel better about myself or to release tension. As a pro-choicer, you’d think I’d like to see God’s creations die. But no. The pro-lifers are into that. They like to attack the defenseless. Not because they’ve been raped or at high risk of dying during pregnancy, but just for the thrill of the kill to fill a void in their empty lives. Cowardly. If you’re going to eat the animal, that’s one thing. But for the sake of the kill? Cowardly. Ungodly. Hypocritical. Murderer.
Newsflash: Women that are 100% Estrogen-Audrey Hepburn, doll-like-cross-your-legs-sitting-quietly, barefoot, and prego are R-A-R-E. Where are they? I’ve been alive for 40 years, and I just can’t find them. What I DO find everywhere around me are married and working women with children in daycare where their child calls their child molesters “caretakers”, “mommy”. And these same “parents” and the generation before me is wondering why kids behave so differently (for a lack of a better term) these days.
And by the way, since when are the conservatives worried about Feminism??? We haven’t ever heard a peep out of them until the extremist right-winger divisive, clueless and cowardly Palin arrived on the scene. Now, all liberals are sexist and jealous. Never mind the fact that it was the effort of the PROGRESSIVES that got women where they are today.
Women are limitless as to what they can do nowadays. If they have a dream and the will, they can grab it as any man can too. Palin is just but one grain of sand among the gazillions of women who are “accomplished, beautiful, family-oriented, have testosterone, and are successful” or whatever Tex says that defines a “real woman”. And I betcha that for every Sarah Palin out there, there are just as many (if not more) that are happier, more successful, and better off overall. Sarah Palin is not special. She’s just another power-hungry wannabe.
See, I don’t particularly find Palin to be this “feminine-role-model-woman” the Reds are making her out to be. That is just my opinion. And it’s not because I am jealous.
They are just screaming, “Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA,”.
Honestly, I think that Laura Bush is feminine. She is also successful. So, If I’m going to be so insecure to choose someone to be jealous of, I’ll pick Laura Bush or Michelle Obama. Michelle is gorgeous, has two beautiful children, and is VERY accomplished. So, yeah… I’ll be jealous of them. So, thanks but no thanks to yah for that Palintology sales pitch that leads to nowhere.
Like I had mentioned earlier in my reply, feeling like you’re a success and/or accomplished is SUBJECTIVE. We are compared by conservatives in the most superficial of terms. You can even be a single woman working a 9-5 job and be damn happy and feel good about yourself. That is enough for some people. To be jealous of someone else means to feel worthless and insecure deep down inside. And according to Tex and all other Palin supporters, every liberal is such.
So, basically you are not a “real woman” if you don’t support Sarah Palin. Yep. That goes for the men too. I will tell my liberal husband tonight when he comes home from work that he is jealous of Palin just so that he knows. I’d hate for him to be uninformed. Wait ’till I tell him that Palin can “kick his ass” too. I am sure he’ll reach for the blades and start cutting himself into a deeply depressed funk.
To those of you out there that think like Tex… Sorry, but I think I’ll decide for myself what makes me feel good and accomplished. I hardly need someone who masturbates over Palin’s sound bites and Pentacostal hair-dos every night to tell me how I am supposed to feel about myself based on my political beliefs.
See, this is why you people lost the election. You are the ones who divide the US and you’re the proud creators of the “us vs them” mentality. You started it. And the McCain campaign just perfected it – hence the loss.
Surely some on the Left will call you racist for not supporting Obama and resort to condescending attacks across the aisle, but there’s no match to the violent, bully-like and elitist nature of the Reds. Yes, you guys are elitist too. You think that you are better than everyone else and try to recruit people into your God-fearing morally superior ideologies and every other bright-red belief that you have.
You are the party of hypocrites and walking self-contradictions. You have a blind eye to the flaws and corruption within your own party. You sugar-coat what you know to be wrong and immoral. You see the world through rose-colored glasses and tell everyone that you’re positive and happy. You filter what you read and watch on the news solely to suit your own agendas.
What is ironic about all this is that today I posted (several hours ago) about the resentment the Republicans have for American Jews, and in this post, I made mention of the jealousy that they have toward their nature of being the hardest working most successful group of people out there (and they’re liberals!). Read that post to find out why. And to add to the list of how conservatives are jealous of Jewish Liberals….
Let’s see… They are jealous because
Liberals make education a priority
Liberals are more creative, free-thinking, curious, and have the capability to think beyond 1 dimension
There are significantly less teenage pregnancies among Liberals
Liberals make the most money in the country
Liberals are more adventurous in bed
Liberals like to be FREE to decide whether to believe in God or not
Liberals would like to be FREE to use a vibrator in Alabama
Liberals would like to be FREE to marry someone of the same sex and adopt
Liberals aren’t afraid of their own bodies and aren’t sexually repressed
Liberals take better care of their bodies
Liberals have a sense of humor
Liberals like to take notice that America isn’t the only country out there and appreciate other cultures, languages, and people that are different
Liberals prefer the separation of church and state
Liberals prioritize happiness and FREEDOM to be themselves over succumbing to “societal norms”
Liberals make the best athletes
Liberals dance better, and know how to have a good time
WASHINGTON, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:
Although some votes are still being counted, there are three certain outcomes to this election. The next leader of the United States of America will be President-elect Barack Obama, the Democrats have increased their lead in both the Senate and House, and American Jewish voters have once again overwhelmingly supported the Democratic Presidential nominee.
Obama clinched the vast majority of the Jewish vote, receiving 77% according to MSNBC exit polls Tuesday evening (Senator John McCain received 22%).
We congratulate Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden on this historic victory. This year, the American people and Jewish voters sent a clear message rejecting a continuation of four more years of failed Republican policies and leadership.
With Obama’s victory, we selected a candidate who shares the values of the vast majority of American Jews, including the separation of church and state, a strong U.S.- Israel relationship, and reproductive freedom.
American Jews have always made up the majority of our Progressive population here in the United States. Additionally, it is common knowledge that Jewish Americans are critical thinkers and more intelligent than your average American. Most of them graduate from high school and college with honors, they are self-sufficient, less violent, rarely do you find them on welfare, most of them are in very professional careers, and they make more money than most.
They are family oriented, good looking, health-conscious, get married and have children.
Jews – religious or not – are rarely found to be fanatical and obsessive about their religion. It is a private issue for them. They are not interested in “spreading the word” or “recruiting new members”. I respect them for that. That alone makes them more tolerant and considerate of their neighbors.
Jewish people have a deep thirst for knowledge, and can be very kind people too. THAT’S why they are liberals. Not the estranged far Leftists, but Liberals – by its very own definition.
Republicans secretly (and sometimes not so secretly)hate Jews for this. Republicans hate the amount of money Jews make and they are jealous of their success. And to find out that they are *gasps* Liberal Progressives, only cements that hatred.
Jewish people are, by far, the most successful people. They are always winning Nobel prizes. As of today, they are up to their 159th Nobel prize and counting! They havedone more for the US than we’ll admit or even begin to appreciate.
And the above is what irritates Republicans. Neo-Conservatives want the Liberals to be the “blacks-n-Mexicans on welfare” party so badly. And they are pissed that it isn’t the case. When you ever hear a Neocon talking about “socialism”, you’ll hear them make derogatory generalizations about the Democratic party saying that we are all just “lazy jobless welfare-mongers” out to get a free ride (of course with the exception of Joe the Plumber ). When they hear that 78% of the Jews voted for Obama, they realize that the stereotype of the the liberal is incorrect.
So, they press the panic button.
They go into a sweaty-palmed frenzy and try to brainstorm reasons as to why the Jews mostly vote liberal. I have heard all sorts of wild and desperate justifications that just make me shake my head:
Jewish Stockholm Syndrome: “The Jewish Americans have always been oppressed by the Democratic Party that they have bonded (aka trauma-bonding) to their oppressor and can’t let go”. (In other words, they have a severe cast of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that they’re in denial of.)
They have “Jewish Guilt Syndrome”. (Once again, a suggestion that they are neurotic)
“Voting for Obama is pretty much like lining up to enter the boxcars.”(Here suggesting that they are suicidal and/or very depressed individuals – again shows mental instability.)
“The majority of American Jews are non-observant, and therefore have no vested interest in Judaism or Israel. Observant Jews understand what they face under Obama, and rightly voted for McCain.” (Heavily suggesting here that there is a correlation between being God-fearing and informed, and that those who aren’t God-fearing are ignorant and clueless.)
This is what the far Right would rather believe that all Liberal Democrats just want to stay at home, play video games and get paid by Hitler Obama to do so…. which is just utterly ridiculous. And it says quite a lot about the far Right’s own intelligence and mental disposition that THEY are in denial of.
Sadly enough, the Right-wingnuts have deduced Rahm Emanuel to not being pro-Israel as he is a “Liberal” too. And a Liberal cannot possibly be pro-Israel. However, the Left are upset because they feel Obama has already abandoned them.
Go figure…
Just look at the below blog entry and comment section over at Moonbattery.com. The far Righteous 10-commandment-following Right is supposed to be the party of “Judge not less be judged”, tolerance, and most importantly pro-Israel and pro-Jew. I thought it was supposed to be the far Left that were anti-Semites until I read the comment section following this post:
Now, I do not believe that general American liberals are anti-Semites. I’m sure there are some on the far Left in the US. But where this bigotry is the most noticeable for me is in other western civilizations such as Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. To them, Jews (no matter their place of birth) are Americans. And your average American is hated passionately in these areas by the Americanophobic Left-wingnuts.
Unlike the far Right, the far Left Americanophobes are unaware that American Jews are progressive-minded. Once these people find out that American Jews like Obama, they will be equally sweaty-palmed and confused as their far Right-wingnut counterparts.
It’s funny how our votes “counted” when Bush was “elected twice”, but when Obama was elected, somehow Americans “didn’t vote for them”. These Euro-elitists did?
I find it troubling that European countries in particular regard Obama’s election not only as a wonderful event all its own, but that they view it as their very own victory; as a direct vindication of themselves. By so doing, they are using the Obama triumph to justify their moral superiority in that they claim Obama as a crypto or quasi-European who is basically an American by accident.
Of course being black and all, he’s not American – or let’s say a “true American”. The only “real Americans” are those defined by the Europeans, Canadians, New Zealanders, Australians, South Americans, and Sarah Palin. The real Americans “they” speak of are those trailer trash horrors. You know, the typical, nationalistic, paranoid, arrogant, fat, lazy, vulgar, greedy, racist, spoiled-rich, slutty, ignorant, stupid, humorless, loud, obnoxious, gum-chewing, carbon-emitting, baby-killing, gun-toting, bible-thumping, flag-waving, and self-centered Neanderthal Americans which represent the core and heart of America.
“…But I did encounter many white French people who felt sorry for what blacks went through in the United States. I couldn’t help but feel that these people were being awfully patronizing to some degree. I know that that wasn’t true. But the American in me just didn’t like the feeling that I was being babied. And after talking with many Afro-french people, I couldn’t help but feel that the French were ignoring their own racial problems. It doesn’t mean that one side is right or wrong about anything, nor does it excuse bad behavior, but I was still a bit perplexed by the sentiment…”
Additionally, what the Jew-hating Americanophobes don’t know is the fact that 78% of the American Jews VOTED FOR THIS WONDERFUL MAN TO LEAD THE WORLD BLACK GUY!!
Having watched German television over the past few days, listened to German radio broadcasts and read the country’s leading newspapers, there is an unquestioned sense of celebrating a German victory: The de facto “German” Obama, or the Obama with German sensibilities has defeated the racist, retrograde and yahoo Americans.
Yay! Obama has defeated the racist yahoo Americans!! Woo Hoo! Victory! Yeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Psst.Newsflash: It was those um “yahoo Americans” that erm sorta kinda voted for Obama. Uh yeah. See, Americanophobic Europeans think that all or most Americans are inherently evil and racist despite the fact that the Americans that ARE racist are the in the minority. Additionally, the 50-some-million people that voted for McPalin are not necessarily racist but conservative. There IS a difference.
Watching Micheline Calmy-Rey, the eminent French television personality, exclaim triumphantly and with glee that “Obama parle comme nous… (Obama speaks like we, i.e. the French, do), implicit in her gestures and demeanor was the unsaid “et pas comme les Americains” (not as the Americans).
If Obama doesn’t represent or think like “the Americans”, then who the fuck voted him in? Or is it just that most people living in America are “un-American”? Good Lord. If it weren’t for the Euro-support for Obama, I swear I’d think that these people hailed from the Right-wingnut house. Hopefully, you all now see what I mean when I say that the far Left and the far Right have A LOT in common? Both these groups are mentally deranged. In fact, if you go far enough to the Left, you will be in the Right zone and visa versa. Think of the Left and Right zones as the way the world is shaped (the globe). If you keep going in one direction and don’t stop, you’ll wind up in “the other territory”.
My point is simple: Countries in Europe are rejoicing in the Obama victory and claiming it as a direct result of their moral superiority over Americans while at the same time hiding their own shortcomings and intolerances, the weekly ugly racisms at their soccer grounds, the discriminations that are so common to their own societies and the very fact that a person of Obama’s racial, cultural and social identity, as well as his life’s story, would never be elected dog catcher in any of these allegedly enlightened societies, let alone head of government and head of state.
So true. And that’s why people likeTHIS are pissed off. They know their neck of the woods is far behind the US in terms of tolerance coupled with the fact that they never thought that Americans would ever elect *gasps* a minority figure – let alone a black man as their leader. So, it is no wonder that these Euro-elitists feel so threatened. More now than ever. More now than when Bush was out and about “policing the world”.
Obama’s triumph is an American story from start to finish as he has repeatedly stated. I hope that he — as well as we — will use this fact to deny Europeans their falsely claimed moral high ground by hijacking a unique event in modern history with which they had nothing to do. Just like we progressives have rightfully fought against American moral haughtiness, so, too, should we oppose such strains if they arise elsewhere, particularly if they are based on a usurped rather than achieved struggle.
(I go by the nickname, “happyleftie” and you can find me here on Twitter.)
When the geographically- and semantically-challenged Sarah Palin made her comment about being happy to be in a “Pro-American” part of the country, I was offended less by the inanity of the comment than the idea that being a liberal city-dweller was somehow equivalent to being “Anti-American”.
You see, I am a liberal. And I consider myself very “Pro-American” and a patriot. I am also an immigrant and have travelled to numerous countries, and am very vocal online. As such, I have often found myself defending our country from the criticism of foreigners who are phobic of anything American. Now, I find myself being attacked by both rightwing Americans and sanctimonious foreigners.
So, is it really possible to be a liberal supporter of Barack Obama and be “Pro-American”? You betcha!
I believe that some of us are liberal because we actually care about the founding principles of this country rather than its trappings and symbols. Questioning oneself is a form of self improvement – therefore, being constructively critical of your own country is a form of patriotism. It is when the criticism is mindless and cynical that it crosses over into the type of Anti-Americanism that Americanophobes indulge in.
Having said that, I believe that it is equally wrong to be dogmatically patriotic or religious, or both, as many in the extreme right tend to be.
When Obama said that we are perfecting our country, and when Michelle said that for the first time she was really proud of her country – that is when they got me. I actually felt I understood what she meant – that our country, during many times in its history, failed to live up to its ideals.
When I was younger, I flirted with what people may consider Anti-Americanism. I went through a phase where I felt that nothing was right about the Untied States. I found it fashionable to be cynical and blame the world’s problems on our country.
But, as I grew older and perhaps more mature in my thinking, I came to realize the United States, through its ups and downs, had the mechanism to re-invent and improve itself. I realized that our country’s major failures occurred when it strayed from its ideals of equality, freedom of speech, religion, and expression, and the principle of a representative democracy. In my early teens, I lived under a dictatorship, so I know just how valuable these ideals are, especially when they were trampled and discarded. You might guess that during the last eight years, I had frequent flashbacks to my early teens.
Ironically, my most recent epiphany about our system and its ability to fix its problems came from an unlikely source – I was on a business trip to Ethiopia, talking politics with a local lawyer over dinner. He was formerly a political commissar in the Communist Ethiopian army and was now a successful businessman in Addis Ababa, thriving under an imperfect but reasonably stable democracy.
He recounted the number of constitutions that Ethiopia had written, ratified, and adopted over the years. He said they all failed “because of personal agendas”. Then he startled me by saying that there was one easy way to solve the problem – simply by adopting the US constitution, verbatim. His simple statement reflected the wisdom of an objective outsider with a problem to solve. The ideals that our country was founded upon and give it its sustainability are almost perfectly encapsulated by two documents – the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. Our current government, along with a few past administrations, had sought to subvert what this Ethiopian lawyer considered the epitome of legal codes.
The strength of our country lies in our loyalty to these ideals and the existence of these two documents as our collective memory of these ideals. The strength of our country does not lie in platitudes and slogans, but in our ability to aggregate the voices of our people to protect and if necessary, restore these ideals.
Last Tuesday, November 4, 2008, those voices were heard. We showed the world the resiliency of our democracy, and that we can in fact gather the collective will to restore our nation to the ideals from which it had strayed.
So, for those who still think that liberals cannot be patriots, think again. Blind loyalty without discernment of what is wrong and what needs to be fixed is just that – blindness. Finding fault in our government when it strays, refusing to be silenced, and gathering our collective will to fix what has been broken – there lies true patriotism.
The republican party is composed of low brow, 8 year old girls, that run, cry and scream at the slightest hint of a perceived insult.
The Repubs whined and cried and lied, their way to power. Sarah Palin is the ultimate embodiment of their souls. Thats why over 90 percent of Republicans polled like Sarah Palin…
And its true. For eight years, liberals far to the left, moderate liberals, and just plain-Jane liberals have been mercilessly mocked and accused of being…
whiners, cry babies
negative
unhappy
ungrateful
mean
playing the blame game
playing the victim
sore losers
Poor McCain was even pressured by his campaign to label OUR SIDE, “A Nation of Whiners”.
We Liberals have even claimed fame to the below sticker that you can find on most Right-winged blogs:
It is very interesting for me now to sit back and watch the drama unfold over at Camp Red post November 4th. I am happy. Not because they are in pain and in agony, but because we are seeing for the first time that they are human. And it is also refreshing that liberals can finally take a break for at least 4 years from being called, “an Anti-American” for protesting against Bush’s inane policies.
(Hopefully the other side now understands how we liberals felt under the Bush regime.)
According to the Far Righteous Right, it is “Anti-American” to make even the slightest suggestion that the USA is less than perfect.
It is Un-American
It is being a traitor
It’s treasonous
Some say it should be considered a felony if publicly spoken
It means you wish the worst for America and hate America and Americans
It means if you don’t like it here, go to Canada
It means that you don’t believe in the Cowboy John Wayne Doctrine, “My country right or wrong”
“America: Love it or leave it?“
Or in short, it means you’re a Godless, Jew-hating, weenie, Nazi-appeasing-Hitler-apologist, hairy, smelly, tie-dye, tree-hugging, weed-smoking, homo-loving-marriage-destroying, lazy-welfare-mongering, acid-tripping, baby-killing, kool-aid-drinking, broccoli-granola-soy-tofu-eating vegan, treasonous, bra-burning, flag-burning, draftcard-burning, bleeding-heart, Jane-Fonda-loving and Charles Manson-admiring, constitution/freedom-hating, Anti-American incessant-whiner pinko commie A-rab-terrorist-sympathizer who has a hidden agenda to overthrow the American government and its people.
And this, my fellow prisoners, are the same labels given to Mr. President-elect Barack Obama and his godforbidden supporters.
Speaking of God…
A Christian Pro-Lifer friend of mine even mentioned that the only way she got through Wednesday (the day after Obama was elected) was hoping that someone would assassinate him.
Is the current attitude we see from the Far Righteous Right these days a Pro-American one or an Anti-American one? Is it positive or negative?
And before you start riding my arse for my conclusion that Joe the Plumber could possibly be guilty of “being a Liberal”, just remember all of the times that your party plays rough with our people. I’m not even being mean. I am just simply suggesting that the liberal-incognito Joe the Plumber is not this “Messiah” that that Team Red is making him out to be.
Sound familiar?
My brother and his family (upper-middle-class people – the same people that Obama won’t cut taxes for) accepted disability funds from the government for his daughter that is an albino. And for a very long time. She also got a DEEPLY discounted college education somehow because she was an albino. They worked hard to get her $600 a month because she “can’t drive” and has a problem with her eyes. However, they also accepted from insurance (yet another social program) a special pair of glasses that enable people like my niece to drive without incident so long as she wears those special glasses! At that time, she was receiving a whooping $600 a month while going to school full time in her twenties living off of the dime of her parents basically getting everything she wanted. Her disability claims were fraudulent. She is not disabled. She can drive, work, go to school, and live just like the rest of the world. Soon, she will graduate and become a nurse. And what pisses me off the most about this is that my brother’s family (all of them) belong to the FAR-WAY-OUT-THERE-LOONEY-RIGHT. And they are also staunch libertarians!!
How do you like that?
I know the way some of you work because some of you are my own family. You play dirty. You are liberals in wolf’s clothing. When you get caught, you make excuses. You sit on a throne and point fingers. You call yourselves Christians and then don’t act like one. Most of you haven’t even read the bible, understand it or even know the 10 commandments.
My point is mostly what the Right accuse the Left of is done by the Right, themselves. Talk about sneakiness!
And before you scream that the Far Righteous Left is just as bad, don’t worry. I’ve challenged them over here.
I’m not asking any of you people to stop what you’re doing because then I’d have nothing to write about in my blog, and all the comedians in the US would then be out of business. Tina Fey is already going broke…
Speaking of comedy, now for some fun (for the Republicans to laugh at)
Obama win causes obsessive supporters to realize how empty their lives are.
“…the fact that I think that Obama is going to greatly disappoint a world (yes, like it or not the world is watching and waiting with great hopes) that is expecting “change”, well we will have to see. Perhaps you in America will see some window dressing, but the socialized medicine, decent public schools and social net envisaged by some over here in Europe will never come about. And in regards to American exceptionalism, I’m afraid he’s not going to just rip up the Monroe Doctrine and start anew.”
As a liberal, I just don’t peek at Neo-conservatives blogs to see what the latest conspiracy theory is. I also read articles and blogs written by the American progressive left. I think I have a pretty good idea about what the average liberal American expects of President-elect Barack Obama. I see realistic expectations. Surely, the tears, the “yes, we can’s”, the “yes we did’s”, the blood curdling screams, and the jumping up and down waving the US flag makes us appear like deluded lunatics. Fair enough. But deep down inside, those people are THAT desperate for change. No. Not desperate for blacks, not desperate to rely on Nanny government to take care of us while we live off of welfare for the rest of our lives, either. (Republicans need to keep in mind that it is and has always been the Liberals who make the most money and have the most successful careers in this country. And the large percentage of them are the JEWISH!)
If you don’t know why Americans are desperate, then you haven’t been paying attention and really don’t care to.
Most Americans have lived through days of both Republican and Democratic presidents. Most of us know that a politician is a politician whether he be Republican, Libertarian, Independent, Democratic, Green, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Male, or Female. They are all snake-oil salesmen. They all lie. They all break their promises. They all idealize. They all make mistakes. They all give us hope. They all make themselves look better than what they are realistically. Nothing new there.
WHAT HISTORY HAS TAKEN PLACE HERE?
Ask yourself: Has the United States ever been in a position so extreme before? Has a president’s approval rating ever been this low? This is also historical. Not as much as the fact that a black man won, but rather the fact that America, in the shape that it is in now, is at an all time low. This is History, folks. Why else would both parties be using the word, “CHANGE” as their campaign slogan? Why did evenMcCain distance himself from Bush?
Think about it. Have we ever been so desperate for CHANGE before?
There is HISTORY taking place all over in the US.
Two female candidates? That’s history too. Look at how close Sarah Palin got!
It is cliché that in desperate economic times, people lust over Democratic presidents. In the 2008 election, the desperation was not so much for a prez with a nice tan, but for a Democrat to clean up after 8 years of Bush’s mess! This is not to say that political apathists just blindly voted for a black man not caring about anything else. Surely, that happened. No doubt. But I hardly think that all or even most of the 65,102,280 Americans voted Democrat this time did so with superficial intentions.
It’s the economy, stupid.
Americans vote with their pocketbooks whether you like to believe this or not. It’s a fact. A harsh fact, indeed (especially to the far righteous Right), but it is fact.
We were in such dire straights. Now there is true hope. Not a miracle. Not a “Messiah”. Just hope.
But what about the hype existing outside the US over Mr. Barack Obama? To tell you the truth, I was surprised the progressives about the world are actually THIS happy about Obama winning. Too much hype. Too many expectations. Too much naiveté.
We Americans must sit down and remind foreigners that the United States is a RIGHT of Center country, and there’s nothing Obama can do to change that.
He proposes change, and I believe he’ll deliver that. But I don’t believe that he’ll deliver the change that Left-wing radicals and non-radicals may expect. If Obama doesn’t become a Centrist to a degree, reach across the aisle, and work cooperatively with conservatives, there will be outrage that may bring the Radical and looney Right-wingnuts back into office in 2012. And that’s what I’m particularly afraid of.
To the rest of the world: On a final note, I believe it is important to remember that our Democratic Presidents are synonymous to YOUR Conservative Prime Ministers/Presidents. So, let’s try and be realistic here.
Vancouver — Your editorial board expresses guarded admiration for Barack Obama and his promises for “change.”
Now, imagine a political candidate who voted to renew the Patriot Act and fund the Iraq war, backed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Reform Act, courted the Israeli lobby, supported the death penalty, refused to champion universal, single-payer not-for-profit health care for all Americans, called to increase troop levels and expand the war in Afghanistan, failed to call for a reduction in defence spending, and lobbied (and voted for) the taxpayer swindle known as the Wall Street bailout.
This candidate sabre-rattled at Iran, promised to roll back “Russian aggression” and to extend treaty protection to a Georgian regime that cluster-bombed its own people, advocated for military strikes in Pakistan, opposed same-sex marriage, and favoured extending the death penalty.
The candidate’s name and party? Not John McCain, not Republican, but Barack Obama and Democrat. So, what exactly does Mr. Obama mean when he talks of “change”?
See, my fellow Republican prisoners? Quit whining. That’s for liberals. We acornvoterfrauded a Republican in for yah with the help of the Euroweenies. Obama Mohammed Hussein Biden Laden —>as Far-Right-Wing as they come! You betcha, Joe! No worries. You should be happy that Bush won his 3rd term.
In fact, I am almost sorry that he has won to be honest. The deception awaiting the world is going to be immense, and ironically Obama, more so than Bush will open the world’s eyes to the true workings of the American government.
More right-wing than Bush? See fellow Republicans? I tell you. You have nothing to worry about. Dubyabama will go on continuing Bush’s Neo-Conservative-Neo-Capitalist-Illegal-War-Mongering-Unilateral-All-American policies that make you hot and bothered. Now, go celebrate and feast on some McCain Smiles.
For the record, America has been divided since its inception except that in the beginning after the revolutionary war, the queen-lovers became Canadians.
Dissent in America kicks ass, so don’t try to forge your name on it and patent our unique invention. We created it, we own it, we make love to it, and… HELL YEAH!
Can I get a HELL YEAAAAH FOR AMERICA?
We’ve got a country with over 300 million people, to begin with. And contrary to popular belief, we aren’t homogeneous either. We are a multicultural society despite the Americanophobic belief that the entire United States is South Carolina.
There are 50 states with 30,000 incorporated cites therein. And even each city has it’s own towns, styles, and personalities. If you live in West Virginia, chances are that you’ll have a different experience from one who lives in Denver, Colorado. It’s probably easier to look at the USA similar to the way Europe is set up. America acts like a continent because of it’s size and it’s uniqueness from city to city, state to state. (Actually, the same can be said about every country, right?) There are even cultural differences depending on the city you’re living in. I will give one example (although a general one). When you get married in some cities/towns in the south, the “proper” gift to give the newlyweds is a an actual tangible gift. Money would be considered an improper gift. It may even be considered as “lazy” if one were to hand over a check as opposed to actually going out and buying something. However, in NY, giving money gifts is more of the norm and said to be a convenience among those “just married”.
Basically, all I’m trying to say is that behaviorism and customs vary from city to city – state to state.
I have lived in Miami, Japan, and California. I am now residing in Texas. I’ve been here for four long years and I’m still feeling “culture shock”. LOL
Next, we have three different levels of government here: There is federal government, state government, and finally, local government. In some states, gay marriages are legal. In Nevada, prostitution is legal. (However, prostitution in legal nation-wide if you’re in the “call-girl” business. Just open up the Yellow Pages and see for yourself!) In Alabama, it’s forbidden to purchase a DILDO! Marijuana for medical purposes is legal in California – yet illegal federally (strange, huh?). The list is endless.
The scenery, cost of living, mannerisms, laws, crime rate, accents, dialect, ethnic diversity, food, fashion, flags, income, industries, tourism, weather, job opportunities, public transportation, and etc. differ depending on WHERE you live. There are some places in the US where people don’t lock their doors.
As you can see, this is why Americans can get so frustrated with over-simplified-one-dimensional views of the US coming from other countries.
Take a country with a HUGE population, let them have a chance to let their votes count in a presidential election, (Yes, our system is corrupt, but ultimately our votes are *supposed* to count.) give them YEARS of extremist presidents that will effect themselves and people all over the world, and they’re bound to be divided as well.
To all the Americanophobic brain-dead-abortion-survivors living in Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and South America: It never ceases to amaze me that those who boast expertise on the US are the most ignorant. First off, we are a Constitutional Republic – *NOT* a Democracy even though most people say it is.
For further information as to why more votes didn’t show up for Obama, it is simply because of voter fraud and voting irregularities – which is nothing new in America. I am aghast that the media in your countries don’t cover this. But I’m not surprised as it’s easier to be an Americanophobe when you think Americans were “stupid enough to vote for Bush twice”. The CBC, Der Spiegel, and the BBC are brilliantly manipulative like that. It’s not just Fox News, guys.
As the US “election” draws closer, I find it so frustrating to watch the mainstream Canadian media treat the US circus as if it’s completely legitimate. Not a whisper about fraud, not a mention of disenfranchisement, no context even suggesting that the last two presidential elections were stolen.
I don’t scour the mainstream media, so perhaps I missed some twenty-word paragraph buried on page 23 somewhere, but as far as I can tell, Canadian media act as if the US election is everything it purports to be. The Democrats are liberal, the Republicans are conservative, and whoever gets more votes wins. To quote one of my favourite comedy bits: “Fake, fake, fake, fake.”
Allow me to shed some light. Here are a few good readings:
Maybe you’d like to explain to me why several people hit the Obama button and it registered as a McCain vote? Maybe you’d like to tell me that when people registered to vote, on November 4th, there was no record of them in the system — and why this only happens to Democratic voters?
If you’re going to confidently comment on our politics, one would think that you’d have some knowledge (other than relying on gossip mags, tabloids, unfounded rumors, conspiracy theories, and YOUR OWN biased bullshit media). I am embarrassed for you people. Please educate yourself – especially when you accuse Americans of the same ignorance.
To the Former Egomaniac British Empire Americanophobes: You’re just pissed because you’re not ruling the world any more. Don’t worry, my friends. Obama will more than likely get assassinated. Following that, aside from the riots that will emerge in the streets of the the US, the American Empire will fall. Then you can all rejoice and take over the world again replacing your third-rate power with your born-again-egos. Hopefully from 300 years of bullying the world, you have learned not only from yourselves, but from the yanks as well. When you reclaim your erection, hopefully, you’ll get it right next time. And hopefully before Saudi Arabia takes over YOU!
While the Republicans had the distracted media searching for links between Obama and ACORN, RNC operatives were busily completing one of the most massive voter suppression and purging efforts in American history, stealing hundreds of thousands of Democratic votes across the embattled swing states and striving to arrange chaos and endless lines at the voting booths next week.
First the facts about ACORN. Months ago, we obtained, as part of our investigation for Rolling Stone magazine, the Republican’s list the GOP alleged were the very worst cases of vote and registration fraud by ACORN and similar groups. We went through the names the GOP asserted were “obviously, undeniably and clearly fraudulent” voter registrations.
The Progressive Left tells us that they are the party that “cares”, they are set out to seek and hope for the non-Republican ticket to win in every American presidential election so that there is at least one eensie weensie tiny speckle of hope for world peace and a foreign policy that is at least a fraction less unilateral and humanitarian. Am I right? Is this not what the Left stands for?
Well…?
This Leftie surely isn’t. She confidently states on her blog that the Obama president-elect is nothing to be proud of or feel hopeful for. Trust me. I’ve heard from the average Americanophobes. This Sarah Palin wannabee is truly scary. And she also pals around with people who believe that “peaceful protests don’t work”. Well, I guess when you’re protesting for peace, one should be unpeaceful, right?
All over America and the entire world, citizens are cheering the Obama victory as the next POTUS. This was expected and predictable. Why? Because the Left cares about humanity and the future. Naturally, anyone is naive to think that this will be the end of Americanophobia, but for those on the Left that are GENUINELY(that’s the operative word here) concerned about human life, human interests, human rights, and the world are applauding America’s recent election results. Once again, Americans expected this.
BUT (!) Those who reallydon’t care about anybody but themselves and their Americanophobic self-loathing self-pitying agenda are furious.
Why, do you ask? That doesn’t make any sense.
Does it? Obama wins – the world is relieved to say SAYONARA to BushCheney and co. – and an Anti-American is pissed? An Anti-American preferred McPalin to take over?
Just like the title of this post suggests, this chick ain’t your garden variety Americanophobe. In fact, she puts the rest of them to shame. Yes, I said that. She gives those that hate Americans a bad name. Because it’s not about the welfare of the world and its people any more; it’s more about, “Damn, I can’t be as Americanophobic as I was now that Obama has won!” It’s all about the agenda.
Steph-tard and her cohorts(read the comment section) are, oddly enough, bitter because 56,302,960 Americans voted for McCain and Palin – which means 56,302,960 Americans wanted more of the same and believed in illegal wars, Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, unilateralism, the Global Warming Hoax, and all of Bush’s policies. As she states it,
But 56,302,960 Americans voted for McCain and Palin. That’s 56,302,960 Americans who believe in the Bush doctrine and think that the surge is working. That’s 56,302,960 Americans who believe in perpetual war in countries they can’t find on the map or pronounce. Which means 56,302,960 will be opposing Obama every step of the way if he tries to end the wars and redefine America’s relations with its “enemies”, like Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Russia and China.
Never mind that 65,102,280 Americans voted for the president that will (hopefully, if he keeps his promises) put an END to (at the very least) half of the corruption that caused unprecedented outrage in both the US and in countries all over the world.
What I had expected to hear from the Americanophobes was a condescending, “Finally, America got it right this time” comment. At least that is expected albeit the smug tone and the ignorance revolving around Bush’s two-time-steal.
The economic crisis, which is worse than the one that caused the Great Depression, the War, and the hatred of the Bush regime, all ought to have contributed to a landslide of historic proportions or at the very least 60/40, but they didn’t. Let the Obama faithful rejoice in a black president if they want but it’s a pretty hollow victory if all that divides him from McCain is 6% of the popular vote.
America! Did you hear that? Put your head between your knees. There is no victory to be proud of. Six percent is nothing to be proud of. Voting in a Democrat that contradicts the Bush regime should have you ashamed of yourselves. Ya hear that? Go get a rope and a chair, apologize to the rest of the world, and kill yourselves… NOW!
And there’s always more to come from the “wise”….
“…all that talk about Obama symbolising change and uniting America was utter rubbish: he hasn’t…”
Oh wow. You mean that Obama’s been the president all this time and I haven’t even noticed?! Please accept my apology in advance. I had mistakenly thought that Obama would begin his presidency from January 20th.
AMERICA? ARE YOU LISTENING? OBAMA IS NOT ABOUT CHANGE. YES. HE IS MORE OF THE SAME. HE IS A BLACK-BUSH!!!! OMG. WE HAVE ALLOWED BUSH TO BEGIN HIS THIRD TERM! EXCEPT THAT HE’S SKINNIER AND HAS A BETTER TAN THIS TIME!!!
This Euroweenie used to be a happy blogger before Obama won. She, without too much interruption, whined, squealed, moaned, griped and groaned loudly and passionately about America and Americans attributing them all to every rumored stereotype possible from all the British tabloids that she read. She buys and uses all the snake oil sold to her without question or challenge. She’s a gullible one, and the poster child for having a bad case of the infantile “blame America first” syndrome coupled with an outstanding lack of curiosity about the world. Devoid of substance and/or facts to back her drivel, she calls herself a maverick too as she says that America is “too partisan”.
But then Senator Barack Obama came along, and her world crashed. Yes. It dived into the ground, nose-first. Worse than that fatal Windows98 blue screen of death. A black man became president. Her world is no more. When Brits should really be concerned about this, this Hitler-apologist-Holocaust-denier is afraid of the African-American Bogeyman that will now take over the world! Oh. The horrors.
And yes, she was the same person that thought our election was rigged. Apparently a secret committee sought out to conspire to have Obama become the next president per “Affirmative Action” laws of some sort. It’s got to be that because I just cannot imagine 63,877,116 Americans all conspiring to vote for “black” instead of “change/hope”. A fraction? Yes. A majority? Nope.
Wow. Just wow. Amazing that people like her are allowed to breed…. Little Steph-tard (the wordpress.com abortion survivor with a keyboard and a lot of hate) is the last person who should be talking about “American Ignorance”. But I just couldn’t resist to share this train wreck with you all. She is definitely a character and one that deserves special attention on my blog because you know, after all, she’s a Maverick.
(psst… never mind the fact that Palin would have made history too if she had won). (Oh, and never mind those who voted for Palin cuz she’s hot, right? Or military wives, Wal-mart-moms, Iraqi-war-supporters and vets who voted for McCain cuz he was a POW, or never mind those who voted for Bush because …oh he was just the likeable kinda guy you could have a beer with. Oh and not to mention all the lesbians and women who voted for Palin just because they wanted to see a female leader having been sexually seduced by her power. And the Democrat Staunch Hillary Supporters that became a traitor to their own political belief system and voted for McPalin instead of “the other guy on the Dem ticket”. Shall I go on about how superfically some people vote while kicking the issues to the curb?
Oh, and these “secretly appointed underground officials” who conspired to make Obama the 44th POTUS out of “Affirmative Action”, for what reason did they do this? Can the self-righteous Americanophobes humor me here?
Do I also need to mention that superficial voting and stupidity isn’t an American phenomenon? From the above it is quite obvious, that the author of this Americanophobic blog is not playing with a full deck and drinking the same kool-aid as Scarah Palin.
It looks like many people are seriously troubled by a Democrat taking office. People are desperately grasping at straws everywhere to find some reason to discredit the victory of a non-Dubya-like president. They just can’t handle it. It is a reality that will never be accepted. Look. If I were on the other side of the table, I’d be depressed. I’m not gonna lie. I’d probably even say people voted with their genitals. I’d say “fuck America, we’re doomed”, and all sorts of dramatic drivel. I may have even given Mr. William Ayers a bootie-call. Who knows? I guess I’m just tired of the race-card still being used IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. Fuck race! I guess I’m also just tired of listening to even more Americanophobic nonsense?
Well, here’s my conspiracy theory. We can already count on the right-wing to continue bitterly clinging to their guns-n-religion, but the Foreign Americanophobic Elitist Leftards are pissed off as all hell about Obama’s win. They truly wanted McPalin to take over the white house so they can have even more ammunition to flex their smug Americanophobic muscles to continue their mindless mob-mentality mud-slinging against random Americans. Liberals in other countries are genuinely happy for us. However, the looney far Left is on top of the conspiracy bandwagon driven’ full speed ahead.
—>And another one:(Left/Right-wing conspiracy)Obama won due to Affirmative Action! Wow! Since similar rhetoric was being spread before Obama won, I wrote this post. You might want to read it as it covers how I feel about these types of statements being made. But Affirmative Action???
Are you kidding me?
Well, you really cannot expect an Americanophobe living in England (that is MUCH more racist than the US ) to understand what Affirmative Action means. For those that don’t get it, let me explain. Affirmative Action is to give everyone such as Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, Women, etc. an EQUAL opportunity in the work force, colleges, the film industry, the media, the military, and the like. And the quota-filling is done by authority figures or those hired to do so. Obama won clearly by the people. There were no “designators” or “delegates” that “decided” that they must fill some kind of quota.
And for what reason, anyway, when your average yank is a typical, nationalistic, paranoid, arrogant, fat, lazy, vulgar, greedy, racist, spoiled-rich, slutty, ignorant, stupid, humorless, loud, obnoxious, gum-chewing, carbon-emitting, baby-killing, gun-toting, bible-thumping, flag-waving, self-centered Neanderthal?
For those that think that the vote for Obama was just because he is black, I have a question:Liberal Americans We already know that would have voted along party lines, so we can omit them. What do we have left? We have Republicans and Independent voters. Now, are you people implying that Republicans have abandoned their party just to vote for a black? I can imagine swing voters voting black, but Republicans? Dropping all that they stand for just to get an African American elected? Really? What about the black voters as they were the majority who voted for Obama. Are they the ones you are talking about when you call “racism”? Does this imply that blacks hate their own skin color?
I will continue to update this post whenever the right or the left come up with some juicy and entertaining conspiracy theories. They just aren’t as good as my own conspiracies, I say you.
I think the Americanophobes in other countries are just jealous that America has progressed or taken a step forward, racially speaking — as one of the common stereotypes pinned to Americans is “racist”. They are bloody angry as hell that they cannot say this any more as confidently as they once did. Never mind that racism exists all over the world. Never mind that racism is still alive and well in the US. Never mind that racism will never die. Never mind balance, reason, logic, understanding, and perspective. The Americanophobes want Americans and America to be the evilist existance, and when one stereotype goes a bit blurry, they go into delusional hysterics or like one Canadian guy said, “an identity crisis”.
And screw the Americanophobes in other countries. There’s absolutely nothing America can do to please them, anyway. With that alone, it surely justifies the continuation of selfish unilateralism in foreign policy. This Canadian guy said it best(aside from the digg at Obama):
America could disappear from the face of the earth and the idiots who hate her will still teach that she is evil and to be hated, even for generations.
Obama nor anyone else can change that. 200 years without slavery has not freed black Americans (in their minds) how would one president change a centuries long induction of hatred against a people? I actually think if Osamabama is elected matters will be worsened because the economy of the US will crash and the whole industrialized world will follow. Then people will blame the yanks for that. People are very small minded and I claim no exception. I do however love America and must admit I am quite envious of her and her citizens.
And this:
I am a liberal Democrat. I am happy because a liberal Democrat will be taking office. Duh? I mean, look at my political profile fer allahsakes! But am I “racist” to say that I am also happy for the black people? Am I a racist to say that I cried with white and black people as I watched Obama’s victory? Many African Americans are walking around crying tears of joy. There is something to be happy about other than saying SAYONARA to BushCheney and co. Let’s be realistic here.
Sour grapes are for little kids. Let’s grow a pair of balls and accept reality like adults.
One thing that some of you weren’t realizing is that behind the “YES, WE CAN!” chants were desperate people who genuinely wanted change. Surely on the surface it looked like typical American superficial chanting. Underneath that was pure desperation. This is something that those in other countries will never understand because they didn’t have to live with BushCheney for 8 years. No. Newsflash: Bush didn’t just ruin YOUR country. He has a 23% (a historical low) approval rating in the United States for a REASON!
Here’s a list of people that think YOUR vote for Obama was a racist one:
This just further clarifies what being an Americanophobe is all about. Anti-Americanism began in the 19th century and it’s here to stay, folks. Fuck the Americanophobes. The middle finger really should be pointed at THEM!
With that said, I hope that Obama continues Bush’s unilateral foreign policy. Why should we care when they’re gonna hate us, anyway?
“If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time… tonight is your answer.” – Barack Obama
I am just happy as hell that Obama claimed his victory tonight! I cried tears of joy. This is the best night I’ve had in a long time. A very happy moment for most Americans.
My favorite posts of other people discussing the election:
Truth: The Obama energy plan allows for drilling offshore, just at a longer distance off shore than McCain would.
Myth: Obama will appoint activists judges who make the law instead of interpreting it.
Truth: The McCain Palin ticket would try to get judges appointed with a desire to overturn Roe v. Wade, which the current decision allows for states to decide on the laws regarding the matter of abortion. That would be making a law against a person’s ability (currently an assumed right by this court decision) to make a choice regarding an unborn child.
Myth: Obama has no experiences as he only served in the sentate for 173 days.
Truth: McCain has more experience as a legislator. He’s also been alive a good 25 years more. Education wise and political writing wise, Barack Obama graduated Magna Cum Laude at Harvard. He has been a professor of Constitutional Law for many years, and also served as president of Harvard’s Law Review. McCain’s educational record was simply being 5th from the bottom at the Naval Academy of Annapolis. If we go based on education here, Obama is the far more qualified candidate, which makes the debate of the candidacy far more viable.
Myth: Obama will institutionalize a socialized national health insurance plan.
Truth: Obama’s plan isn’t a socialized Health care plan, because the government is doing nothing more than regulating the minimum amount of coverage that businesses must supply to their employees, and that no insurance may be denied to a citizen because of pre-existing issues. It’s a health insurance policy that doesn’t touch the health care institutions.
Myth: Obama supports abortion throughout pregnancy.
Truth: Obama supports the right of the States to make their own laws about abortion, legally, as supported by the 9th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and the Supreme Court Precedent of Roe v. Wade which ruled that unborn fetuses weren’t entitled to the rights of a fully living human being.
Myth: Obama will pull the troops out of Iraq immediately.
Truth: McCain hasn’t quite stated when the troops would come home aside from the “Most Americans probably wouldn’t care if we were there 100 years” statement. He just seems clearly intent on the idea that we haven’t succeeded there, and that any sort of phase out of troops would be surrender. Which begs the question: How do you define success in Iraq? Obama has supported, for over a year now, negotiating with the Prime Minister for Iraq, as the Bush administration is now proceeding to do, to put a time table in place for the Iraqi people to take control of their country and get American troops out over an extended period of time. Obama’s plan would start immediately, but would take 18 months to get to his lowest level of troops, which still maintains a base and embassy there.
Myth: Obama doesn’t support gun ownership rights.
Truth: Depends on your definition of gun ownership rights. If you believe it is your right as a one man militia to own whatever automatic firearm you wish, and carry it anywhere and everywhere safety off and unconcealed, then yes, Obama will restrict your rights. But if you believe that it means that you are allowed to own a firearm for the defense of your family (and for those who hunt the enjoyment of the game and the nourishment of meat), and that this doesn’t require you carrying a shotgun, rifle, or semi-automatic pistol around in high population areas, then Obama does support your gun ownership rights, as well as the continued safety of all Americans.
Myth:Obama supports homosexual marriage.
Myth: Obama doesn’t support homosexual marriage.
(Yes, I’ve actually heard both lol)
Truth: For the record, Obama supports civil unions amongst homosexuals, not the title of marriage, which truly is the only issue involved here. He supports civil unions that grant the same kinds of rights ordinarily given to heterosexual marriages, such as shared power of attorney and property, visitation in hospitals, and things of that nature.
Myth: Obama proposed programs will create a huge tax increase.
Truth: Proposed programs of either candidate will ineviatbly lead to higher taxes or the complete and utter bankruptcy of this country. Neither are going to cut spending to any decisive venture, nor will either raise revenue enough to have a government surplus and to really start paying back our national debts.
Myth: Obama’s voting against making English the official language.
Truth: English was never anything more than a defacto official language of America. The founders didn’t believe in a need for the requirement of it, as it in many cases, can be perceived as a violation of free speech. The immigrants who came to this country in the past realized that to get ahead they’d have to be able to communicate with the locals, Immigration levels at this point, however are much higher and so many and most can get the things they want with whatever language they speak. This is not a bad thing, it’s just a change in the culture of America, the kind of constant evolution the Founders would have wanted for this country so that it could keep being a symbol of true freedom.
Myth: Obama voted to give Social Security benefits to illegal aliens.
The far Left will call those not supporting Obama a racist, and the far Right will call those who support Obama a racist because (finger flapping wildly)“You’re only voting for him because he’s black and that’s racist!”. The neocon who said this tries to vindicate himself by saying that he’s black. So, I am supposed to be persuaded by that alone. A black man said that if you vote for Obama, that you’re not voting for him on the issues but rather just to “make history” (never mind the fact that Palin being the first VP will make history). This guy is using his skin-color to validate his point. But he’s just another classic right-wing snake oil salesman.
While I do understand that language evolves, I am stumped by how quickly we can call each other racists without even understanding what it means. Some people need a refresher course. Let’s discover what the word “racism” truly means, shall we?
Racism is the belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person’s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics. Racial separatism is the belief, most of the time based on racism, that different races should remain segregated and apart from one another.
Racism has existed throughout human history. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another — or the belief that another person is less than human — because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes.
Both the far Left and the far Right have it wrong. What they are doing is simply belittling what the victims of TRUE racism went through. And that is shameful that people can take such a word and mangle it to flex their muscles and suit their own political agenda.
America has always been a politically divided country. Now, the divide (no matter who wins) is more bitter and clearer than ever as this is the most important election of a lifetime. We are all sitting on pins and needles.
But be realistic. Whether you like it or not, racism STILL DOES EXIST in America.
And as far as voting is concerned,
Yes, people are voting for Obama JUST BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!
Yes, people are voting *AGAINST* Obama JUST BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!
Yes, people are voting for PalinJUST BECAUSE SHE’S HOT!
Yes, people are voting for Palin JUST BECAUSE SHE’S GOT A VAGINA!
Yes, people are voting *AGAINST* Palin JUST BECAUSE SHE’S GOT A VAGINA!
Like I said before and I’ll say it again, I didn’t vote for Obama superficially. I am voting for him because he’s an extremist homo-loving tax-n-spend Arab Muslim Marxist terrorist born in Kenya who hates America and Americans and has a clear plan to destroy us all. Hey, I love these kind of people! ♥ Obama 2008, baby!
The very last person in the world we’d think would be crying about censorship after having TRIED to ban several innocuous books from a library is now crying us all a river…
Gov. Sarah Palin said she fears her First Amendment rights may be threatened by “attacks” from reporters who suggest she is engaging in a negative campaign against Barack Obama.
[Snip!]
“If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations,” Palin told host Chris Plante, “then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”
The future of America is that should Palin become POTUS, our free speech WILL be taken away because this wussy can’t take any form of criticism whatsoever, and every time she screws up, she conveniently blames the “evil liberal media” so that she doesn’t have to look inward and own up to her own shortcomings.
“It’s sort of perplexing to me, because I’m a practical person and plainspoken also, but just cutting to the chase and calling things like I see them, just like most Americans. But this has not left a bitter taste in my mouth, the bitter shots taken by the mainstream media and by some of the elitism there in Washington,” Palin said.
*sighs* Sweatpea? Calling you out on your blatant lies, hypocrisies, ignorance, and stupidity is not elitist. (And psst… if you’re not a Washington Elitist, your wardrobe shouldn’t be more expensive than my house!) In fact, it mirrors your very own qualities. The media is practical, plain-spoken, cutting to the chase, and calling things as THEY see them just like most Americans. You DO realize that the 1st Amendment protects dissent, right?
The 1st Amendment, Ms. Sarah… shall we spell it out for you? Do you have a pen and a piece of paper handy?
The 1st Amendment addresses what the government cannot do:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Clearly the position of VP is not meant for the squeamish thin-skinned variety of Sarah Palin. She’s too weak. She boasts ad nauseam about the “straight-talker” that she is, yet she cannot handle straight talk back. And she’s not even a “straight talker” anyway as we keep seeing her time after time skirting and dancing around simple questions asked. She is a coward. She is a weak woman who is bringing all women down to the 19th century. She wants to be coddled, and women aren’t coddled any more. Women fought long and hard to get where they are. Modern women are tough and can handle what men can tolerate in any career possible. Palin proves to be a weak link and not the true strong feminine woman that her minions are fooled into thinking she is.
So, it’s not just Palin being weak, ignorant, and mildly retarded herself, but she’s also a hypocrite.
Look.
All the other candidates are taking their criticisms very well. NO exceptions should be made for her because she’s female. She is no princess – although seemingly spoiled rotten (but that’s beside the point). As much as I dislike Bush, he took criticism very well and even had a self-deprecating sense of humor. He didn’t take even himself seriously at times and could actually laugh at himself along with the First TRUELady, Laura Bush. If ya can’t take the heat, get outa the kitchen. And Bush stayed in the kitchen because he could handle it. I mean, damn! Look how mature McCain is being about endorsing Barack Obama! Whoa!
Psst. When something doesn’t go your way, instead of looking inward at the bad choices that you’ve made and owning up to them, take the easy way out: Blame the Dems and the media. The Neo-Conservative Republicans have mastered this like no other.
To hear up close and personal what Palin’s sympathy cries sound like, watch this video.
Returning back to Palin’s hypocrisy…. Let me remind my readers again that the same advice she gave Ms. Hillary Clinton, she cannot take herself.
I am embarrassed for Sarah Palin. Does anyone else feel the same?
Hello all, and welcome!
In my blog, I discuss Americanophobia, politics, political extremism (my rantings about the extreme right and the extreme left), anthropology, crime news, psychology, LOTS of humor, and try to debunk common rumors spread about the American people. The variety of topics I discuss are in 360 posts ... Continue reading »
“There is a big difference between being anti-American and being critical of the United States….critiques are appropriate and necessary, provided that they rest on facts and address real abuses, real errors and real excesses–without deliberately losing sight of America’s wise decisions, beneficient interventions and salutary policies. But critiques of this kind–balanced, fair and well-rounded–are hard to find, except in America herself…” — Jean-Francois Revel
"The fundamental role of anti-Americanism in Europe in general, and particularly among those on the Left, is to absolve themselves of their own moral failings and intellectual errors by heaping them onto the monster scapegoat, the United States of America. The U.S. is charged with all the evils, real or imagined, that afflict humanity, from the falling price of beef in France to AIDS in Africa and global warming everywhere. The result is a widespread refusal to accept responsibility for one's own actions." — Jean-Francois Revel
"Anti-Americanism is hypocrisy at its finest, You can spend your evening catching the latest episode of "24" and then complain about Guantanamo the next morning." --the Berlin bureau chief of Der Spiegel
"Of course some Americans are stupid, but... "It all boils down to the fact that knowledge and intelligence are two different issues. Rote memorization of world capitals does not equate intelligence.
I do find it interesting that Canadians and Europeans have such strong opinions on this, considering that there are many more pressing issues to be concerned about. Perhaps the steady Canadian and European refrain of "Americans are stupid" is a reflection of their own deep-rooted insecurity. You know -- an inferiority complex." --Mohammed
"As an American, please allow me to begin by asserting that our nation has had its strengths and its weaknesses, its successes and its failures, and its justices and injustices throughout history and continuing into the present. Although I sense much patriotism for my homeland, I recognize our need for humility to understand that our country is not above questioning or reproach but is rather under the same standards as all other nations of the world. I would simply like to ask those who view our country from afar to maintain a balanced perspective and realize too that there exists good and bad in America, both in terms of its domestic society and politics as well as in its relations with other nations.
Whilst there may be growing anti-Americanism in the United Kingdom I do not believe such sentiment to be reciprocated on our side of the Atlantic. I viewed a recent survey that indicated most Americans view England positively, and never have I seen the flag of your country (or any other foreign land, for that matter) burned in the streets of our cities. Clearly we as American citizens have not meant to be your enemies." --Seth
"As someone who takes human rights seriously, I'm appalled by the lack of sympathy the left feels toward the victims of any regime other than the Bush administration. Let's shout it to prisoners everywhere: If you're not harmed by an American, your suffering doesn't count." --Erik Svane
"Ambivalence, antipathy, and resentment toward and about the United States have comprised an important component of European culture since the American Revolution at the latest, thus way before America became the world's 'Mr. Big' -- the proverbial eight-hundred-pound gorilla -- and a credible rival to Europe's main powers, particularly Britain and France . . . . While the politics, style, and discourse of the Bush administration -- and of George W. Bush as a person -- have undoubtedly exacerbated anti-American sentiment among Europeans and fostered a heretofore unmatched degree of unity between elite and mass opinion in Europe, they are not anti-Americanism's cause. Indeed, a change to a center-left administration in Washington, led by a Democratic president, would not bring about its abatement, let alone disappearance." --Andrei S. Markovits (author of Uncouth Nation - Why Europe Dislikes America)
"Is Euro Disney Land a threat to the French Culture? If French culture can be squashed by Mickey Mouse, or more exactly by simply moving Mickey geographically, it would have to be disturbingly fragile." Moreover, Revel argued, culture always circulates and, in the case of Euro Disneyland, California was merely repackaging for Europeans such European stories as Cinderella and Pinocchio. According to Revel, French culture was not being colonized and if any culture was in crisis, he contended, it was that of America with its fad for political correctness and other forms of "neoprovincialism." --Jean-François Revel
"Anti-Americanism is the only face of xenophobia still broadly accepted in Europe." --Mary Fitzgerald (New Statesman)
"Americans find themselves damned either way. If they remain within their own borders, they are isolationist hicks who are shirking their responsibilities. If they intervene, they are rapacious imperialists." --To hate America is to hate mankind
"The British find it very difficult to come to terms with the loss of their global dominance. We felt a deep sense of hurt and loss. We used to run the world, and we don’t anymore. So, in order to palliate that insecurity, we tend to run ourselves down too much. And we’re also snooty about the people who DO run the world." -- Boris Johnson (Member of Parliament)
"It is tragic that Anti-American ideas are so easily passed through rumour, while reconciliatory ideas and notions must be backed up with catalogues of evidence before they are even considered, purely because of the fact that it is so much easier to hate than to keep an objective open mind." --David Hatton
"Other common anti-American objections are ignorance and stupidity. In dealing with these two, I have no reason to suspect that the average American is any less intelligent than the average person from anywhere else. One trait I have noticed is that other cultures are generally much more ashamed of any deficit in the intellect of the individual, especially ours (the British), and as such will make a much greater attempt to hide it. If all cultures bar one are scared of looking stupid and take action to prevent that happening, then that one remaining culture is inevitably going to be lumbered with that image." --David Hatton
"We became not a melting pot, but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams." --Jimmy Carter
"Most of the anti-Americanism these days stems from plain old nationalistic jealousy by a lot of countries that are born of insecurity about their own place in the world and their painful self awareness of their own failings and shortcomings...like the kids in the next block who are jealous of the boy who has a better bicycle or a newer fancier skateboard....phuque 'em all." --Robbins Mitchell
"Europeans, like the rest of the world, hate America and Americans, but love our aid when in distress, and our soldiers to die for THEIR COUNTRIES. You need to work, live and pay taxes from this side of the Atlantic to understand our vision of Europe and the rest of the world." --Jerry
"Unjustified hatred of Americans:
There is much unjustified hatred in the world. There is unjustified hatred of the USA. Much of this arises from the victimisation complex that sweeps much of mankind. Whoever is in charge, whoever is powerful or successful will also be hated. This immature hatred often evaporates quickly with a little reason or thought. There are some some invalid, unjustified criticisms. The most widespread hate is the hate by people the world over who fall victim to their own shortcomings, and want a scapegoat." --Vexen Crabtree
"USA citizens are not given world news in the same way as most the other developed nations, and may well be genuinely unaware that much of the world is as poor as it is. European news is highly world-centric, whereas due to its size most USA news does not have enough time to cover news in all neighbouring states, let alone news from around the world. " --Vexen Crabtree
"Despite the USA's dominance of mass media, it is frequently only the pro-USA, self-congratulatory messages that seem to arrive in Europe, the USA citizens criticism and disbelief of their own government is not apparent, which gives the overall impression that Americans are either gullible, ignorant or honestly uncaring." --Vexen Crabtree
"If a person outside of American culture is a hateful person, they may actively hate and verbally attack America. If the person takes this to include a hatred of Americans themselves, they are inconsiderate and have become a fool. If a person like this is brought up by people with vested interests in attacking America (and there are many), a person can be driven to take his opinions to a violent level. Generic hatred is not solved or soothed by adding more layers of hatred.
There is a belief and hope that if enough nations oppose America, the American people will realize what their government has been doing and will overthrow them. This hope is misguided, as anti-American actions are causing the opposite"--Vexen Crabtree
"I think it is best, when faced with people from other nations, to treat them as individuals. Yes, you can "hate" the injustices that governments perpetuate on us all, and yes, you can despise ignorance in all its' forms. But any sort of blanket prejudice punishes yourself more than anyone else, because it thwarts the opportunity to learn from someone else. It stops you from making potential connections that could ultimately change your life. As an "american" living abroad, I pity my fellow countrymen who still have the wool over their eyes, but I don't hate them. The fact that when I meet them, they are indeed traveling at the time, says to me that they are in the process of opening their minds. Being in Europe, for many Americans, is the first step to realizing that other cultures do indeed exist and thrive, and that other forms of social structures are both possible and desireable.
-----------------
Many ask me why I left. Political reasons aside, when I mention that my family now enjoys free health-care and that my daughter will have the opportunity to go to university virtually for free (O.K. not free exactly, because we all pay taxes, but these services are included in what we as citizens receive for our tax dollars here in Europe,) they always respond with a sigh as they realize that this is the way all societies should be run. They know that something has gone terribly afoul in their beloved "homeland."
--------------
Americans, in essence, need to be re-taught what is possible in the world, they do not need to be shunned. Shunning them will only help to produce more negativity in the world. If we all, from without, can help them to change what is wrong with their country from within, by sharing our knowledge of alternatives, then the whole world will benefit." --Lily
"Sometimes the caliber of a nation is found not in why it is liked, but rather in why it is not." --Victor Davis Hanson
"Everyone is in favor of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled, but some people's idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage." --Winston Churchill
"With a military that has become a laughing stock and her increasing irrelevance in the world around her, I believe that the Canada I know and loved is gone. The sad truth is, Canadians have only themselves to blame since they meekly chose to accept everything without question and without fighting back. Most of them even pat themselves on the back for being so “progressive” and “multicultural” and “diverse,” while failing to recognize that all of those things will bring about Canada’s demise. America may not be perfect, but at least there is a strong conservative movement and a population who will fight to keep their rights." --Jayne Gardener (Why I left Canada)
"Regarding Race Relations in the South:
I once read an observation that ONE (and there are many) of the differences between the Northern and Southern approach to race is that the North tends to reject the Individual while embracing the Race. The South conversely seems to have prejudice towards the other Race while embracing the Individuals. It's a generalization to be sure but one with more than a grain of truth.
Blacks and Whites have always lived closely in the South, most southerners have an aquantince of another race whom they like, while at the same time generalizing about the 'others'.
The North has always been more segregated and less mixed in ordinary commerce and interaction. They accept the race but interact with few individuals of another group. Leading to less real experience with the other group. Fewer Northerners subsequently have friends of a different race.
I think we a need to be cautious when making these generalizations but I believe they still offer food for comment.
I guess I'm just saying that one shouldn't assume the South has a less open society because of some who have lingering, isolated, racist attitudes towards 'Canadians'. It just seems that these notions, are more exposed, and carry more gravity due to their past. --JG (reply #70)
"My “two cents” to all you Americans out there: speaking as a Brit, it pains me to see some of the comments emanating from this page by alleged British sophisticates. Much of the real reason for anti-Americanism of this type — though it will be hotly denied — is nothing more than envy. Truth be told, many an Englishman yearns for the day when we were the number one dog in town, with the world sitting obediently at the feet of hordes of short-back-and sides public school boys lording it over primitive tribes of Africans and Asians, whilst men such as Joseph Chamberlain and Winston Churchill sincerely speculated on the chances of the USA being welcomed back into the imperial bosom.
Americans, don't lose heart; you are the great power of the age. It is your lot to be envied and feared. Do not fall for the soft hearted illusion that this translates into moral superiority of any variety." --James
"It is sick that to be Canadian one must hate other people. I've been to US hundreds of times and England as well and they never equate their nationality with hatred of others. It seems we are a nation of people that are in serious need of therapy. Thank god I enjoy visiting other countries and felt no need to hate or denigrate others. When ever I go to United States or England I always leave the Canadian stuff at home and I get along just fine. I would recommend this for others." --Nov. 12th, 2005 5:08PM
"The only thing more annoying that a 'typical American' (and they do exist!) is a Canadian with a superiority complex! Americans do get the piss ripped out of them behind their backs but with the flag on your pack you probably will as well." --travoholic
"I grew up on army bases my whole life and nothing makes me prouder than watching Canadian soldiers do what they can, when they can, to help out more impoverished nations. I do, however, become angered at people who begin talking about who has the better, or bigger army and who can beat whom. Soldiers sacrifice their lives for the betterment of mankind, not to win pissing contests." --Mon Dec 13, 2004 5:12 pm
"I attribute European anti-Americanism to a state of prolonged “adolescence” from being protected by American treasure and military might throughout the post-WW2 era. I think about how teenagers rail against their parents actions and restrictions, all the while knowing, deep down, that they cannot provide for themselves.
On a somewhat lighter note, there was a program on PBS (Public Broadcasting System) a while back about why Europeans don’t like America. One interviewee attributed it to the Europeans knowing that America won’t hurt them." --Denis Eugene Sullivan
"In spite of the constant accusations of “arrogance,” Americans are really very self-deprecating in many ways and often place the French, and other Western Europeans, on a pedestal of cultural superiority; this probably goes further back into world history than virulent anti-Americanism does." --Jennifer
"Yes, anti-Americanism is a sad reality all over the world. I feel its simply part of "hatred of the superpower". Britian for most of its empire's history was mocked harshly by English speaking colonies and much of mainland Europe. Nobody likes the "big kid on the block". I think the fact that American media plays a more dominant role in English speaking societies around the world further reminds us of our inferiority complexes.
In short, America's ok with me. I can only hope that reason and the shedding of jealous ignorance can let other people see that America isn't that bad." --Matt
"Conservatives love America the way a six year old loves his mother. Mommy is perfect, don’t be mean to mommy, etc… Liberals, according to me, have a grown-up love for America — the kind that recognizes faults and works to improve the nation out of love." --Al Franken
