That one?

McCain didn’t even shake hands at the end of the debate with “that one” despite Obama’s putting his hand out to do so.

And people think Obama is arrogant and condescending?

And why didn’t McCain talk about all of Obama’s connections to his “terrorist friends”? That would have been a good one, no? C’mon! We’re talking about the Straight Talk Express”, here! McCain missed a perfect opportunity to warn the American people that their lives are in danger under Obomba.

If the campaign is “Country First”, then McCain should do whatever he can to stop Obomba from destroying America.

I think Tom Brokaw and McCain forgot to take their Geritol this morning.

Like Minds: Are you watching The John McCain/Tom Brokaw Show tonight?

I don’t know about you, but I trust ….

  1. Obomba – I like that.

The answer, of course, is that any attempt to call attention to ANYTHING lil Barry has done in a negative way leads to an instant, deafening chorus of “RACISM”!!!

But, I agree – this election is in the bag for Obama, the media will be sure that they don’t actually report anything that might hurt the chosen one’s chances – so McCain needs to grow a pair and call him out on it. Watching Barry stutter and stammer and get righteously indignant would give these debates SOME entertainment value.

  2. Who is calling out “racism”? “That one” is not calling him out on an issue. And if it were Obomba calling McCain, “that one”, that wouldn’t fly over too well. “That one”: OK, I am white and that would piss me off – Big Time! It’s very demeaning.

Stuttering and stammering? I see what you mean, but McCain is no less guilty.

And you must remember that too many times when liberals call Palin out on a bad, we get to hear how “sexist” we are.

And the media has yet to shut up about Obama and his terrorist connections, hate for America, his ties to soviet Russia and deep hatred for the American people. Yes, the media. It’s been overplayed. But that’s fine as its the beauty of politics.

P.S. McCain didn’t discuss Obomba’s terrorist nature last night – not because McCain’s a softy. It’s because there’s nothing to say. I am still waiting for the “Straight Talk Express” they keep trying to take claim to.

  3. VM,

It’s amazing how different POVs see things, isn’t it? The media silence on Obama and Ayers/Rezko has been deafening – but you see it as non-stop criticism. And remember – it’s not a smear if it’s true.

The media has been BRUTAL to palin. Saying things about her (and digging around in her past) in ways that they never would Obama. Certainly the right screams foul whenever Palin is criticized (fairly or unfairly) – but show me the major media outlets that have raised ANY objections to the way Palin has been treated – you’ll be hard pressed to do so, I think.

Of course Obama won’t cry about racism – he’ll be the dignified injured party who stands solemnly by while his surrogates pop up, one by one.

  4. One answer: Fox News! Oh, and Republican talk radio!

Of course Obama won’t cry about racism – he’ll be the dignified injured party who stands solemnly by while his surrogates pop up, one by one.

You know, I am against the knee-jerk reactionaries who whip out the “racist” or the “sexist” card when things don’t go their way. It annoys the hell out of me. But one must admit that racism and sexism is still alive and well in the world. It does happen. “The Boy who Cried Wolf” rings true now because of all the fakers.

By the way, where were you when all these AA Canadians et al were calling me a Jesus-freak-right-wing-nut?

  5. I missed that he didn’t shake Obama’s hand at the end. Good catch. I also did a review of the debates here: http://anotherdamnblog.com/index.php/review-of-the-second-debate/

Would love to know your thoughts.

  6. Yeah. Obama tried to shake McCain’s hand and he refused. I mean, how childish can one get?

“Mamamaaaaah, I’m takin’ my toys and going hommmmeee”

    Poor guy.

  7. “By the way, where were you when all these AA Canadians et al were calling me a Jesus-freak-right-wing-nut?”

Eh, I don’t know – was I around then? I’m always up for a good fight with Canadians – so I would have had your back if I knew about it. If they thought you were a right-wing nut, they would think I’m the anti-Christ. Of course, I get that pretty much every day anyway – so it’s started to lose it’s effect on me.

So you counter MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS with…..Fox news? See, it’s ok for conservatives to have ONE network that shares their bias – you liberals have 5 or 6. Why is the left so afraid/offended by Fox? ONE network versus many – but somehow Fox is the root of all evil. I do occasionally watch Fox from a news perspective – I can’t stand any of the “opinion” segments. Hannity, O’reilly, etc. I have a similar aversion to Limbaugh.

Talk radio in the US is an interesting phenomenon. It is all opinion – and the market decides what people want to hear. The more people who tune in, the more popular you are, and the more money you make and advertisers you attract. So why, pray tell, does conservative opinion dominate the airways? Is it perhaps because it’s what people want to hear? Do you support the “fairness doctrine” to be sure that the rubes get a nice dose of liberal viewpoint – a viewpoint they would obviously endorse if they weren’t too stupid to realize what’s in their best interests?

I think we can find a few whiny moments in the Obama repertoire as well – especially if we can look to Michelle. But targeting Michelle and the Obama kids would just be wrong. Unlike targeting Palin’s family – which just feels so good you gotta do it.

    Right?

  8. CNN is neutral the way I see it. They call out both candidates on their dirty deeds in a professional manner. MSNBC is obviously left-wing biased. Fox is on the other side. The other news stations… I don’t know, really as I watch only the three I mentioned in addition to talk radio.

Late night talk radio listeners are mostly truck drivers. So,… hence the republicans dominating the air waves on the radio? I don’t know – or maybe they are just balancing out against the left-wing bias on TV? I really don’t know as I don’t watch all the channels. But when I say “they” don’t leave Obama alone, I am talking about the republican airwaves. I mean, how has the message gotten to all of us? The media, right?

But some on your side will note a left-wing bias on CNN just because the exposed dirt on the republicans at all. I will shine your shoes if you can prove to me that CNN is left-wing biased. Your side will say that the news is only objective if it only bashes the left. That’s not fair. And yes, I realize my side does the same thing. I watch Canada et al in action.

We need to separate Obama from Michelle. Obama from Ayers. Obama from Wright. Obama from Hitler. Obama from Satan. Obama from Osama et all. Obama is Obama. Let’s judge him, and then we’ll have an argument. I’m not a big fan of his wife either, but why would I blame that on Obama? If I did, I’d have to take issue with all the people that Palin and McCain has hung out with since birth. If you’ve been paying attention, their connections aren’t too pretty either. Have you heard about the AIP and Palin? Palin and witch doctor? McCain and Keating? You see what I’m getting at?

You know as well as I do that no politician is crystal clean. No politician is 100% honest either. And I think the reason I don’t get upset with Obomba is because I deep down know he is frustrated with America. So, am I!! Most of us relate. But this is where Obama is not being honest. He will not directly tell the people that he personally is frustrated with the US. He’s very indirect about that – especially when he says that we are the best nation in the world. I don’t buy that. I know he is being a typical politician when he says that. He doesn’t think we’re the best. He wants to make us better. And so do I. That is a human emotion. And I don’t think that one nation has to be better. What they should be is the best that they can be. Period.

Just in case you’re wondering where I stand, connections and the way people choose to live their lives really has nothing to do at all with the way both Palin/McCain and Obama/Biden will run the country. However, I will call those out on their connections or dirt if they over-confidently claim themselves to puritan philosophies and “straight-talk”. The Palin Administration is surely making themselves vulnerable. For example, Palin claims she’s best fit for prez because she’s a mom and knows how hockey moms feel and during rough times bla bla bla. She made herself vulnerable with that irrelevancy right there as Biden shot off about how he knows what it is like to be a single father through rough times as his wife and daughter got killed.

  9. Guilt by association only works when the person doing bad things is doing those bad things when you are around. For example, I know alot, I mean alot, of former criminals from our church ministry to inmates. But when they are around me, they are doing good things like attending an AA meeting, or thinking about G-d, and the deeper things in life. So while I cringe at Sen. Obama’s friend who was part of an unwise weather underground terrorist group (while he was 8 y/o) I also have to look at why Mr. Ayers was considered rehabilitated enough to serve on an education board by the Annenberg foundation. During those times he was doing good things when associated with Obama as a community organizer.
And then there is that other one, Sen. McCain. (play on words there… tee hee) When he found otherwise well respected regulators, businessmen and fellow senators, he decided to associate with them and turn them into the Keating five. Suddenly I want to start a punk band with that name.

  10. Actually, a lot of effort has gone into Obama to sanitize him from Ayers (the “he was only 8 years old when Ayers was blowing things up” meme, for example). While it is true that Obama never went on any bombing missions with Ayers or Dorne – he actively sought out an unrepentant terrorist (or are you discounting the Ayers Newsweek story as mere posturing – the one with him standing on the American flag, saying he regretted nothing, and often thought they didn’t do enough?). The fact that Obama knew his politics, sought him out, and launched his political career through Ayers speaks volumes. Plus, it’s not at all clear that the Annenburg challenge was as benign an entity as you portray it.

I find it especially amusing that the new Democratic talking point is “yeah, Obama may have palled around with a terrorist, but McCain was a member of the Keating 5″. First, McCain’s involvement was judged to be minimal, and we was reprimanded for bad judgement (from Wiki):

The Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of McCain in the scheme was also minimal, and he too was cleared of all charges against him.[50][49] McCain was criticized by the Committee for exercising “poor judgment” when he met with the federal regulators on Keating’s behalf.[7] The report also said that McCain’s “actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him….Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate.”[53]

On his Keating Five experience, McCain has said: “The appearance of it was wrong. It’s a wrong appearance when a group of senators appear in a meeting with a group of regulators, because it conveys the impression of undue and improper influence. And it was the wrong thing to do.”[7]

Secondly – McCain has publicly and repeatedly apologized for his role in the Keating Scandal. Obama has denied, denied, denied. How come those Annenberg Challenge documents got sequestered by the university of Illinois? One wonders what may have disappeared down the memory hole while people had to jockey for access to institution stored at a “public” institution, eh?

  11. I cannot tell right now if I am taking Obama’s connections too lightly or not. Despite my being 70% with Obama on the issues, I have a feeling that I can trust Obama. And I also crave a dramatic counteraction to the Bush administration and the movie, “Idiocracy” coming to life. I want to see what Obama has in store for us, even if it is a risk.
