Zontar, the all-knowing and all-seeing impartial observer of all things profound and trivial is dumbfounded. Zontar has studied much and thought much. Zontar sayeth America makes no claim upon German inventions. Of course after the war, America invited many German scientists to its fair shores to contribute to American profit. But I don't know of any source that lays claim that America was the one responsible for these inventions. There is no need for false boasting in the matter of the Soviets or Canadians. Americans have done enough on there own without having to invent fabrications.
Hail Zontar!

Everyone has to be registered to log in from now on because I get too many trolls coming here with fake email address and writing incoherent comments having very little to do with the topic of my posts.

I would only assume that our per capita hand-outs would be LOW because we are 300+ million people. Think of it like a family. If <b>Family A</b> has 8 children and gives 10 dollars, each family member (10 including the parents) is thought to have given 1 dollar each.

Then <b>Family B</b> gives the same amount and doesn't have any kids. They are two. They give 10 dollars. On a per capita basis, they are thought to have donated $5 each. If we think of countries like big families, that makes sense. I would only expect that when our government gives hand-outs that on a per capita basis, the US ranks much lower compared to the rest of the world because of how many people we have living here.

As far as private donations are concerned, many think that most Americans are rich, and that is a fallacy. There are just as many rich here as there are in other developed countries - I'd like to bet. Americans have more poverty stricken and homeless compared to other developed countries because of our capitalist and not so very compassionate government. So, as far as private donations are concerned, even if we were to rank #1, we shouldn't be expected to just because our government is super rich and is holding blazing guns over the rest of the world.

I would like to see more information on us having stolen German patents. There have been many debates over what Americans and Canadians have invented when really it was due to a Scotsman who lived in both the US and Canada. <--- There are lots of stories like those. Both my husband and I are history buffs and neither one of us heard that American inventions are mostly hacks? If that is the case, I would like to spread the word. So, I will do some research on it.

Hey there. You know I wouldn't want to be anti-American (We're getting those fancy new missiles to protect us over here in Poland), just a couple of quick things. Coincidentally had a friend send me this yesterday about inventions we'd all assumed were American: http://greyfalcon.us/restored/Gerrev.htm
And then just a little about the US foreign aid. It is the highest amount of any nation, but really, the per capita amount says a lot more:
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0930884.html
It's a bit old, I know, but at least you beat Canadians in the private giving, look at those Scandinavians! I'm not saying anything bad about the States, but can you imagine if they did what they could?

BTW Hope you got to read my post about how to make this whole election thing go faster: www.theendisalwaysnear.blogspot.com
Oh, and do you know I had to register with a wordpress account to post a comment this time?!??
