Kids are Rotten?

In Armchair Anthropology on July 22, 2005 at 2:06 AM

Why are kids suffering from mental/emotional disorders, called rotten? If you do the research, that is the mainstream word for a child. Forget that he’s in pain too and needs help. He was just born evil. Yes, that’s what it is.

  1. Is it nature or nurture?
  2. Did God create “rotten kids”?
  3. Do storks carry them and drop them at our doorsteps?
  4. Is the responsibility being conveniently shifted from parent to child?
  5. Or is it an innate pessimistic view? Let’s take a look….

pes·si·mism
n.

  1. A tendency to stress the negative or unfavorable or to take the gloomiest possible view: “We have seen too much defeatism, too much pessimism, too much of a negative approach” (Margo Jones).
  2. The doctrine or belief that this is the worst of all possible worlds and that all things ultimately tend toward evil.
  3. The doctrine or belief that the evil in the world outweighs the good.

Look at all the results on Yahoo for “rotten children”. Amazing, isn’t it?

What about adults? Is there a mainstream word for hyperactive adults that is as offensive as the word “rotten” for children?

Nope. Didn’t think so.

It sucks to be a kid.

Teen Suicide is Increasing. As if that’s any news?
